BTDT Mommies... Switching from Formula to Milk
Since Reilly just turned 1 year old on Tuesday, I figure it is time to switch her to whole milk. Her 1 year ped appt isn't until Oct 21st. I'm a bit concerned b/c even at 1 year, DD has reflux issues, though it is significantly less than previous months. I did attempt to switch her slowly to milk last month by using 1 oz of milk in each bottle, then was going to increase to 2 oz of milk but I found that she would puke more! She was tested for a milk allergy when she was about 1 month old, which was negative.
How did you switch your DC from formula to milk? Did you do it cold turkey? Did you do half and half bottles? Please post the method you used.

Re: BTDT Mommies... Switching from Formula to Milk
Kaydyn had a reaction to yogurt when we first tried it at 6 months, so we thought she would have a problem switching to milk. She did.
We tried 1oz milk in each bottle for about 2 days and she got the most awful rash ever. We called the ped and they said she is prob lactose intolerant.
So we kept her on formula until she was almost 14 months and then we went REALLY slowly transitioning to milk. We started with 1oz in each bottle for a week (making sure she had no other dairy in her diet)...then 2oz and so on. Took us about 6 weeks to fully transition.
I know plenty of people who go cold turkey but that just would not have worked for us.

Re: BTDT Mommies... Switching from Formula to Milk
I tried cold turkey (with the formula and bottles) but although she likes the milk and can use a sippy she likes her formula and bottles better so she won't drink nearly as much milk as she should. I'm still giving her a morning formula bottle and sometimes a bedtime one too but I try to give her the milk throughout the day in a sippy with her meals. She's getting better with it but it's taking a little time for the transition.

Re: BTDT Mommies... Switching from Formula to Milk
I did half half for a week, then 2 oz of formula 4 oz of mile for 2 weeks, now he is totally on milk. I do give him a bottle of formula if I feel like he didn't eat much for the day. I did it on my own bc my PED appt is not until end of oct

Re: BTDT Mommies... Switching from Formula to Milk
We did it over the course of a week. We replaced 1 oz of water for 1 oz of milk on the first day and increased as we went along.
In each bottle the entire day: 1st day: 5 oz water + 1 oz Milk + 2.5 scoops of formula
2nd day: 4 oz water + 2 oz Milk + 2 scoops of formula
3rd day: 3 oz water + 3 oz Milk + 1.5 scoops of formula
4th day: 2 oz water + 4 oz Milk + 1 scoop of formula
5th day: 1 oz water + 5 oz Milk + .5 scoop of formula
6th day: 6 oz of Milk + 1 scoop of formula (just to get rid of the remaining formula)
7th day: All milk
DS did spit up a little in the beginning, but got over it fairly quickly. Now he loves his milk. Although he does need it warmed up slightly bc it is too cold right out of the fridge.
