All of this lingo has got me going...

Just curious about TTC...

Does everyone use Ovulation Kits and Fertility Monitors? Are you ladies using them because the first few months of TTC were unsuccessful?

I only ask this question because I am not sure if I should rush out to the store and get this stuff since we just started TTC this week or if I should wait and see what happens in a month or so.

Reading this board and all of the topics is kinda freaking me out that it may be really hard to make a baby but I know it all depends on each individual person. I just don't want to get overwhelmed.

For me personally, I'm using OPKs and temping b/c my cycles have been whacky since going off BCP. If you have pretty regular cycles I say just wing it for a few months before taking all those other steps. They can get stressful! Most importantly-try to keep it fun!!

The only thing that I am doing right now is keeping track of my days. Nothing special. I am currently on my third cycle. After six cycles maybe I will step it up but for right now, we are just having fun!

oh and dont get overhelmed! people who are charting, using OPKs and all that are going to post MUCH more. People like me, who are just basically BDing a few times a month ( well more than a few times but you know what i mean LOL ) arent going to have anything to post really! I don't even test early, I just wait until CD 35 ( when AF would be about 5-7 days late ) and so far i havent had to take a test. . .

Don't let us freak you out. Your going to see a ton of posts on here about all kinds of things ttc related. I think mostly this is the one place where we can talk about it without having people at us. I think you will see stories with minor details or questions b/c these are the ppl who know what your talking about. As for now I would not say to run out and get an OPK kit unless you want to make this baby right now. I would say have fun ttc, and in a few months see what happens. You can learn a lot from these ladies, they have taught me so much. Don't let us scare you away.

This board can be very stressful when TTC as well as very helpful.

Personally, I woujldn't get OPK's when you just start. I got pregnant with out OPK's had a miscarraige and am not trying again with out them...

But do what's right for you. My doctor told me to just BD 3 times a week and it would happen....and it worked for me the first time!

This board does have the potential to make you a bit crazy. Try not to get too stressed out by it though. I have never used OPKs but this is now my second cycle since my miscarriage. If we do not conceive this month I will prob start using OPKs. I think the best thing to do for a newcomer is to start tracking your days on your home calendar. Mark when you have your period, when your ovulating, when you BD. That way you can start to become accustomed with it all.

I'm not. I think I'm going to get obsessive about it if I use them. If we're not pg after a few months I'll think about starting with them.

I didn't use OPKs when we first started to TTC. I started after my 3rd cycle. I just recently started temping the last two months. But if you are just starting out I would just go with the flow and see what happens.

We are planning to start this month and not using OPK's yet. I did start charting the last 2 months since my period can be wacky - i thought this was a good place to start (plus its alot cheaper)

If we have no luck in 3 months than i'll proabably start the OPK's

We want to conceive ASAP so I used OPKs this month (2nd cycle) so I could get to know my body & cycles better. But, I like to be in control so... Welcome to the boards & don't let us scare you, we're harmless
