Re: Laser treatments- Anyone done?

For the face?

I have had some laser treatment of red spots on my face, the majority of them due to broken caps around my eyes that were caused by years of wearing swim goggles (I was a competitive swimmer). I always found it painful but it is quick.

Re: Laser treatments- Anyone done?

I had laser hair removal of my underarms and the pain equivalent would be of someone snapping rubber bands on your skin. I only went for a few treatments so I never finished.

ETA underarm pain was about a 3 for me but then again I used to get them waxed

Re: Laser treatments- Anyone done?

Funny you should ask...
I just got a package to have EVERYTHING done (arms, underarms, legs, bikini and upper lip) and I go for my first session on Oct 15th. I had gotten the same package about 5 years as well and went to one session but then had to stop b/c I was PG.
I think the pain factor depends on how dark you are, how much hair you have, etc. When I went, I would say certain parts hurt more than others...my arms/underarms were about a 3-4, my upper legs were about 5 but, I will say, my bikini and lower legs were pretty close to a 9-10!!
But, the good news is, lasers have come a long way in 5 years and I hear now that they are definitely less painful. Also, you could go to your derm and get a prescription for Emla (a topical numbing cream).
HTH!

Re: Laser treatments- Anyone done?

I've been getting laser hair removal on my underarms for over a year now. I've been 9 times, and there's less hair than there was, but it's nowhere near gone. And they'll tell you (if they're being honest) that it's NOT technically "guaranteed permanent hair removal." For me, even though I technically knew that, I really thought the results would be better... for the amount I paid, I want it gone! Chat Icon

Pain depends on where the laser goes. In the direct center of the armpit it hurts worst, like an 8. As you move further away it's progressively less painful (and I'm talking like, millimeter by millimeter, it gets better) - I'd say in some places it's even a 1. Luckily the pain is momentary and goes away immediately afterwards.

Re: Laser treatments- Anyone done?

I had laser hair underarm and lip and chin. The few times holy hell take something before hand. Feels like rubber bands snapping on your skin. After a few times you get used to it and it is very quick over and done in 15 mins. I stopped once I was pregnant and the hair grew back so not sure if it was the hormones or what not.

I had laser for tattoo removal, and "snapping rubber bands" would be the best way to describe the pain. More annoying than actual pain, and its super quick ! Good luck.
