Please help... DH and I are in total disagreement about temperature!

OK, so DH and I are on completely different pages when it comes to what temperature it needs to be in DS room at night.

So I am looking to find out what you ladies do to see if he is right or if I am right! Chat Icon

2 questions for you:

What temp do you keep your house at night once it starts getting cooler?

What is your DS wearing to sleep?

We have blanket issues with DS because he moves around so much one won't stay on him and he wanted nothing to do with his sleep sak (may have to look into the ones with the foot holes)

Anyway, I would love to hear your answers! Chat Icon

Re: Please help... DH and I are in total disagreement about temperature!

We have the temp at 60 at night in our house. Last year DC were newborns in the winter, so they were in onesies, fleece footie pj's and swaddled.
This year they will be in warm pj's and in the fleece sleepsacks/blanket sleepers.
We also use fleece sheets.

It's cooler now, we haven't put the heat on yet

We put DD in a sleep gown then a fleece sleep sack over it

Once it gets colder, we'll prob make sure her room(nurser) stays at about 60-65...and then bundle her up more

Re: Please help... DH and I are in total disagreement about temperature!

right now, we have no heat on and windows are closed. DS is still going to sleep in regular pajamas. Once it gets colder, than I'll start putting him in the blanket sleepers with maybe a onsie underneath. Last year, DS would sweat in the fleece pajamas, so I'll try it again. No sleepsack here though. He does sleep with a blanket (more like a lovey though).

We usually keep our temp at around 70ish in the winter (I get cold!!).

We usually keep the heat on 70. Chloe wears a cotton long-sleave footsie pj's right now, no blanket or sleep sack. When it gets colder, she will probably wear fleece pj's. She is almost 8 months old. Last winter when she was a newborn she wore the cotton footsie pj's and was swaddled.

Hope that helps!

We keep our thermostat around 68 in the winter. We keep her ceiling fan going to keep the air moving and put DD in fleecy sleepers.

At night in the winter, our house is around 60-65 degrees. DS wears long sleeved/pants then wears a sleep sack on top of that.

Last year, when DS was a newborn, we kept the house at 68 all night. This year, we'll keep it at 64 when it gets cooler out. He will wear fleece sleepers.

Well we still sleep with the AC on, DH is ALWAYS cold. Im always hot, as is DS. So, I win. Anyhoo. We put DS in a 2pc cotton jammies no feet and two blankets. I will still do the same come winter. I keep the heat low at night, and we are good. I can't stand to smell heat.

I've read that you should keep the temperature between 68 and 72 for babies. When DD was a newborn, I usually kept it between 70 and 72.

In the winter at night - we usually keep the house around 65/66. DS is layered (pjs/t-shirt). He's an oven all the time, so I don't like to overdo it.

I radiate heat, or at least DH says I do, so we like to keep a cooler house.

I was always told/taught that it was better to sleep in a cooler room.

In the winter, I keep it at 62.

He has 3 blankets (yes, three) and he's good about recovering himself if he gets cold.

Footie PJs, blankets and a cool room.

75 is really warm to me, escpecially if the heat is on, not to mention the $$$$!
They did just fine last winter!! With the door closed and everything the temp in there was prob around 65, even though the thermostat was set on 60.
IMO, its better for babies to be cooler than too warm.
And I am sure if your DS is too cold, he would tell you!

Re: Please help... DH and I are in total disagreement about temperature!

We generally keep the house around 68-70 in the winter. DD's room gets pretty warm b/c we keep the door closed the whole day so the cats do not get in.

We put her to sleep in cotton pjs mostly (long sleeved shirt and pants) and sometimes on a cold night we will put on a fleece one piece pj. She doesn't sleep with a blanket either b/c she moves around a TON at night.

OMG at 75 I would be wringing both mine and DD sheets every morning from the buckets we would be sweating. We keep it at 70 at night (celing fan going in my room because that's not really cool enough)although that may go down the more pregnant I get. At 70 she sleeps in regular pj's but she's good about keeping herself covered with a blanket if needed. Last year we used to put her in warm footsies pj's, no blanket and there were times when I noticed she got a little sweaty.

We keep our house cold. DH and I don't like a hot, stuffy house. In the winter the heat is set at 64 when we are home and 63 at night when we sleep. We also keep out a/c's super cold in the summer. We just add blankets and layers accordingly because neither of us can tolerate a hot house.

Re: Please help... DH and I are in total disagreement about temperature!

TTC crasher. This is my biggest concern when we have a baby. I am always freezing, and DH is always saying it is so hot. Last night it was chilly we had the window open, and the ceiling fan on medium. He still complained it was too hot. He went & brought in the tower fan, and put it on high in the bedroom. That was still not cold enough for him. The c/a was set at 73. It never came on. He got up closed the windows, and set the ac on 64 Chat Icon , and the ceiling fan on med. I don't know what we are going to do when we have a baby. I think 68 is a good temp, or 70 if you are going to have the fan on. I like a little heat in the winter, but I still like to keep the window cracked for some fresh air. I am going to have to print this out, and keep it for the fights to come.

68 degrees(DH tries for colder and we battle over the thermostat)
Long sleeve pj's and a sweatshirt because she hates blankets
My 8 year old is hot like her dad and sleeps in a t-shirt and underpants

according to my CPR class 68-72 is the correct and safest temp for a baby to sleep in so we use that as a guide Chat Icon
