Anyone ever go through getting a CO with the town? I am at my wits end.

This is just a never ending ordeal.

I have posted before about our situation, but now we are finally at the end, which seems to be taking FOREVER.

So the seller got all his variances and had the town come out one last time to inspect everything he had to do with the pool and approved it. That was 9/11. Now we are just waiting, and waiting, and WAITING, for the CO to be issued.

Has anyone gone through this with the Town of Brookhaven before as far as getting the ACTUAL CO?

The title company can search for it directly with the town so we don't have to wait for them to mail the paperwork to the seller, who no longer lives here, and then to the attny. But so far, NOTHING is happening.

We were supposed to close on this house in July, so you can see why I want to kill someone at this point.

A friend of mine is going through a similar situation right now.....I hate to tell you but they signed contracts (on both ends) in the beginning of August....I believe it was the 3rd to be exact.
The seller is in the process of getting COs for extensions on the house, pool and deck and they are still waiting.
This house is also in the town of Brookhaven.

DH and I also bought in town of Brookhaven but we never had to deal with CO issues...thank goodness.

I'm sorry you are stressed but I hope it all works out...and quickly!!

We're going through something siliar (but in the Town of Smithtown)

Did the seller hire an expediter? They can usually get the CofO a bit quicker.

It is very frustrating, especially when you are this close. Good Luck, I hope you get it quick!

Our closing was delayed for a few months b/c a CO too. It was from the Town of Brookhaven. The seller had to hire an expediter and it still took forever. I don't know who actually got the CO in their hands but we got it at the closing. My REA was on top of it all and talked to the expediter daily.

I know how frustrating it is! I hope you get it soon and can at least have a smooth closing!

We just did it... from the time of final inspection to the CO in the mail was about a month. Then an extra week after we didn't get it even after they said they sent it lol

We had to get the variance too, so all in all it took 8 months. But it is done!!!!!!!!!!

The seller never got an expeditor, he is cheap.

It just takes an unbelievable amount of time and it's just so annoying.

Also feel your pain with the Town of Oyster Bay! My closing has been delayed already a couple of months!!
