Sarah, there are so many other factors to consider:
How many coats needed?
How much trimwork? Moldings?
What condition are the walls in now?
Is there any wallpaper to remove?
How many gallons of paint are needed?
Are there high ceilings?
Will the house be empty/is furniture involved?
Is there any "fancy" painting needing to be done (dental moldings, etc.?)

I don't know how big 1800' iis. How may BR's etc?
The quotes I have been getting for 3 BR's, LR, Kitc, 2 story hallway with no trim and wallpaper removal and spackle in 4 rooms is about $5000.
I know the wallpaper removal is the VERY expensive part of this, about $200-$400 a room.
