Can you reuse the infant carrier for DC #2?
I'm switching DD to a convertible carseat at 6 months since the infant seat is already getting heavy for me.
Can I reuse the infant carrier for DC #2 if s/he follows within a year or two or do you need a new one for each child?
Thanks!

As long as it hasn't been in an accident, then yes.

As long as it is before the expiration date. I think it's actually five years but you can find that out online.
DS#1 is 3.5, I used it two years later for DS#2 and now 16 months after DS#2 - for DD. So I've used it for three kids in 3.5 years and it's fine.

We did. DC are 3 years apart, and the expiration date is usually stamped on the bottom of the carrier. We disposed of the seat after DD, though, since it was getting close to the expiration date (we held onto it for a while after DD before getting rid of it)

I never knew that infant carriers had an expiration date. Why do they have an expiration date?

All plastic deteriorates with age and becomes more brittle. All car seats have an expiration date. After a certain number of years, the plastic in the seat is not up to crash standards anymore, and may not protect DC the way it was designed.
