Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

I'm way passed my year. That's the problem. When the price went up I was floored. I dumped HBO and downgraded to the basic package.

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

$155 last month

Basic cable (no HBO or showtime or anything like that), internet, phone, and DVR

2 boxes, 1 is DVR

And we ordered a movie ($4.95)

Complete rip-off

If you haven't done this before, you can call and tell them you're considering switching to Verizon. I did this and get like $35 off my bill for a year. It ended and they wouldn't renew the pricing. They said they can only do that once.

132 with taxes for the silver package, and only one box.

No DVR's.

Still a rip off.

For the most part, it only works if you're in an area where FIOS is available, not just Verizon. Those of us in Brookhaven are screwed. :p

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

I was going to call tonight but I got home too late and I have no patience.

I'm going to post another thread for those with FIOS and see what they are paying.

My brother in law tried this a few weeks ago and they wouldn't budge.

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

before moving, i was scrimping every penny so i called them. took people's advice from here and went directly to the disconnect line from the automated thingy...

got to a nice lady and told her, "i simply cannot afford these payments, please drop the internet, i don't need it, i have it on my phone. While you are at it, drop the phone service."

she kept throwing different offers at me. i told her i needed to be closer to 100.00 per month than the 150.00 so i'll do whatever it takes.

i got it down to 100.00 one month before i moved.

i soooo should have done that sooner.

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

I know 2 people, both in Bethpage who called and said they were going to switch to FIOS not bc they had issues with cable, but b/c of the price and Cablevision said "Ok, what date would you like your service disconnected" My Dad even said "so you aren't going to try to save me as a customer?" Cablevision said "no sir".

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

I just got the Optimum Triple Play: $130 a month, includes 3 boxes (1 a DVR and HD). No movie channels.

They are running a special now and the Triple Play price is good for 2 years.

When I called to start the service, they tried talking me into the GOLD package. $160 a month for phone, internet and cable----with EVERY movie channel. It was a good deal but is still a high monthly payment.

Can you have DH call and switch the service into his name so you can get the Triple Play price again?

Will that work? Is it by account and not house?

If that's the case I am doing that asap. It's in my name right now and frankly every bill is in my name and I would love something to be in his name.

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

Yes, a few of my friends have done it.

Also, when I added the Triple Play last week, I was already and existing customer (had internet through them at our apt). They gave me the Triple Play rate anyway.

$150/month for the triple play.

2 boxes, 1 DVR and HBO.

We called them after our year was up and asked if they would extend the triple play package price for us. They did it with no problem.

I know when you add services they're all happy and helpful but when trying to pay less not so much.

Can you find out the details before I torture DH and have him call?

I would love to have some ammo when he calls.

TIA!

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

We have the triple play and pay $160 + taxes for 3 boxes (2 HD, 1 HD DVR, silver package, phone and internet).

I've called a couple of times to say I'm switching and they refused to budge or even attempt to keep me as a customer.

Can you get Dish or DTV?

Our place had the HD DTV dishes in place when we brought it so we gave it a try and ended up being happy with the service.

I pay $75 a month for expanded basic service, HD service and 2 HD DVRs

Re: Discussed many times-Cablevision

I had directTV a few years ago and wanted to poke my eyeballs out.

They were worse than Cablevision.

that was a few years ago but it left a bad impression on me.
