blinds with poll....

We need to purchase blinds for our sunroom (which we are turning into a dining room) I have 4 large windows in this room and one smaller window.

what do you think we should do? Should we purchase 2 smaller blinds for each window or 1 big blind for each window? Keep in mind that basically all the walls are covered with windows except for about one 2 foot section in the middle of the room.

I think I want 2 for each, since the windows are so large and they slide from right to left and the front part moves completly in front of the other side, that i could lift just one if i wanted to, or lift both sides. since the room has so many windows having 2 for each would allow us to limit how much light is coming in. but we just arent sure if that would look right?

Currently we have these bamboo blinds that were left by previous owner and it is one blind per window.

Im hoping this all makes sense.

this is the room.. please ignore the floor, we will be adding hardwood and the table was left here as well.. cant wait to get rid of it.. so 70s haha

TIA

Also... if you know a good and inexpensive place to get custom blinds, please post!!

the wall space in the middle of this one, is the only space without a window in this room.

I think if you got blinds for each window it would look nice. DId you think of maybe doing roman shades in there?

My mom has a place she uses online for custom blinds. I will get the site for you.

I have big sliders like those and got big blinds for each window. I thought about getting 2 for each, but there would be a gap in the middle which I thought might look weird.

I didn't do custom, I got them from Home Depot and had them cut to size.

Re: blinds with poll....

The one thing I see is that you can't mount both inside the window frame, so you would have to hang both shades as "outside mounts" instead. I completely understand why you want the 2 shades verse the one. Just an idea, how about Top Down/Bottom Up shades? You can buy them in different type materials. I just bought my custom made shades from www.yourblinds.com or you could check out www.genericblinds.com as well. Both sites have similar products. If you are looking for bamboo shades (that is what we bought), they have lots of colors to choice from.

i agree with jen in re: to the mounting. blinds will have to be an outside mount and in order to achieve a seamless look, you really can only have one blind for window.

LOVE the slate floors. i have the same in my foyer. although it may not be the ideal flooring for a DR (even with the addition of an area rug) i would hate to see them replaced.

Re: blinds with poll....

Maybe this blog will help you a little. These Youngsters used two blinds right next to each other and you really can't tell there are two. But they did an outside mount and hung them high and the curtains high and wide to soften the shades just a little. Hope this helps you in some way. That is going to be a great DR. Take lots of pics once it's done.

I want to stay away from Roman shades. the bamboo ones that are there now are Romaln and they get all messed up. Plus if possible we want cordless. it is just safer esp with our cat who attachs the strings.

thanks! actually i didnt think of that, i guess 1 big one would be best.

I had mentioned the top down bottom up to DH but he was iffy. we will see.

Thanks for the site, i am going to check them out. I dont want bamboo shades though. we have them now and we can see through them during the day and at night everyone can see in. we live on a corner so we feel too exposed

You can wax it too - my mom has slate in her hallway - when it's washed and waxed - it's beautiful!

we do wax it, but it just looks shiney with dirt imbedded underneath. they were installed int he 70s and i think it may have been outside at one point because it is in the area they was an extension.
