If DC was/is on Zantac or similar for tummy issues
How long were or have they been on it? We're approaching the 3 week mark now and the GI specialist at Schneiders just had us up Julianne's dosage since she was having screaming fits again
How long was your DC on it? Any issues taking them off the medication?

Zantac was HORRIBLE for us... never worked, made her worse and WIRED!!
A few "interesting: things about Zantac. It's peppermint flavor which is CONTRAINDICATED in people with reflux cause it makes it worse
Our specialist at Yale says its a pretty INNEFECTIVE medication and can't understand why so many regular peds prescribe it as a first medication.
Alexa was put on Prevacid and withing 36 hours was a NEW BABY......
If your LO has been on it for 3 weeks and no improvement call teh DR. TIme for a medication adjustment

Oh wow! How can a doc prescribe peppermint flavoring when it's contraindicated? Poor baby must have suffered!

DD was good for just over 2 weeks and is okay with the upped dosage (I assume do to her gaining weight we needed to adjust). The GI specialist was hesitant to change the meds just yet - she would change her formula first. I plan on asking more questions at our office visit since the phone call was brief

Hopefully it was weight related but sometimes they also "get use" to a medication and they need to switch it up.....

DS was on it at about 3 months. We tried to wean him off close to 1 year but the screaming started and he wouldnt lay down. He was finally off of it a little after he turned one. He has had no issues from taking it.

Re: If DC was/is on Zantac or similar for tummy issues
DD has been on it since 3 weeks old...she's currently 4 1/2 months. It has worked wonders for her...we also had formula issues...but have been with Similac Sensitive...its the PERFECT combo for her.
We tried weaning her off the Zantac around 3 1/2 months...but her symptoms came back immediately. We'll try again in a few months. We've decided to wait until she's 6 months to start solids...so once her solids are well established...we will attempt to wean.
Good Luck!
