wondering what your ladies opion on this is...

I ran into an acquaintance today and her DD is 2 months old and very skinny so I asked how much and how often shes was feeding her she said every 4-6 hours about 7-8oz's...

Does that seem like to little to you guys? I'm just curious, cause her DD looked very bonie to me.

Hmmm.... I don't know. I had to look back and around 2 months, we were feeding DS about every 3-4 hours but he was BFing so I don't know how much he was getting in terms of ounces.

Some babies just don't plump up like others.

Well DS was a pig so he ate 7-8 oz. every 2-3 hours Chat Icon but he was always long and thin, never really had much baby chunk. Did she mention how muchs he weighs? Every baby is different and she may be satisfied but I would hope she is feeding her no more than 4 hours apart...6 hours seems like too long of a stretch. That would mean she is only eating 4 times a day Chat Icon

If he's getting 4 bottles a day at 7-8oz each, that would be 28-32 oz a day, which is pretty much right on most doctor's recommendations for total intake of formula, I believe.

Re: wondering what your ladies opion on this is...

Speaking as a mom of a baby with Failure To Thrive, I think she is getting enough. My doc usually looks at total daily intake. If the baby is getting even just 4 feedings a day of 7oz, that is 28oz per day. That gives a total of 560 calories per day. They usually need 100-120 calories per kilogram to grow so even if the baby is up to 10lbs she is getting enough. And, 8oz every 4-6 hours is the same as 4oz every 2-3 hours. Also, chances are, the 6 hour stretch may be overnight.

That seems about right. DS is 2 months old and eats every 3 to 4 hours and has aout 6 oz. Even if the baby is skinny it could be a faze. My nephew was so fat then thinned out and my niece was skinny then gained some weight
