Happiest Baby on the Block - has it worked for you?

Some aspects have worked for me- occasionally. But I guess it all comes with practice. The swaddling thing, so far, does NOT help her sleep longer. I put her down and an hour later she's up again.

Anyone have success stories or, this is b.s. stories?Chat Icon

Absolutely, that DVD saved our lives one night (any many nights after) when Shane was inconsolable. I recommend it to everyone. Tipped him on his side on our laps and shook our knees and he was out like a light!

did you swaddle him too? see, the side hold thing worked about 2 times, but last night when I reeaaaally needed it, no. Maybe because of the swaddle cuz the other 2 times it worked without it.

Some of it was helpful, some I rolled my eyes at.

The 5 s's were very helpful, the "sh'ing" in particular.

Yes, swaddled and shushed. Worked like a charm..but only the first couple of months I will say. But when it worked, it worked well! Good Luck!!

I absolutely love this book! My DH and I also watched the DVD before DD was born. I buy this book for any pregnant person I know.

My DD is 5 mo and the loud sshhhing still quiets her immediately. She's always been a great sleeper and I attribute this to the 5 s's.

There were a few times when she was a newborn when it seemed she was completely inconsolable and the head jiggle move put her instantly asleep! It was amazing!! Thank God for LIF because I never would've known about this book otherwise.

Can you tell I'm a fan? Chat Icon

I'm not sure what you are talking about - but from the pp's i have an idea.

If its sleep your after for your DC - my DS loved to be on his back with his neck almost off my lap/accross my knees with his head covered w/ a blanket and rocked back and forth. I don't know how I discovered it, but it worked well. My mom thought it was odd.

We would not have survived without watching the dvd. we still sush our baby. swaddling no longer works since he is older now.

I had tremendous success with DD#1. She was terribly fussy and cried ALOT!!! I read the book and used all the methods. It really helped her. I haven't really needed it with #2.

I love it! It was a life saver for dd and hopefully it will work with dd #2 if necessary when she arrives. DD#1 loved to be swaddled and the shushing worked wonders along with the swaying back and forth.
