Housing Credit may become $15K!!

Just read this bloomberg article where they are thinking of increasing the 8K credit to 15K and applying it to all home buyers not just 1st time buyers and will have no income restrictions!

I wish it was more clear when this might go into action, might be worth waiting a few months to buy!

Re: Housing Credit may become $15K!!

i remember originally it was supposed to 15k but you had to pay it back (i think?) but then it was lowered to 8k but became a credit instead of a loan....

i would LOVE LOVE LOVE for them to extend the 8k OR raise it to 15k and extend it Chat Icon

it doesn't look we will be closing on anything anytime soon and the extra money would be amazing and would really help us to be able to furnish the place......

Sorry...I think this is ludacrous. I though the 8k was as well. How come those of us who bought our homes in 2005-2007 don't get it being it was the height of the market and our homes aren't worth nearly as much as they were than?!?

It looks to me like this bill is sponsored by Republicans and I wonder if they will have enough support from across the aisle to pass it into law. I recall their trying to pass the increase to 15k with no income limits once already in the Spring but it failed to gather enough support.

I am keeping my fingers crossed!

it's being co-sponsored by Sen Dodd - who is pretty far left...so this seems to be a good sign of reaching across the aisle.

I so hope that this is true. maybe it would help to sell our house...AND then credit to buy the new one is just fantastic!

Re: Housing Credit may become $15K!!

i had a feeling they were going to extend- they need to do something to continue the housing market to pick up- or at least tread water.. it's still a long way away from a turn around, and I think taking away the 8k would hurt more than anything.

my DH and i are hoping they extend it. we were hoping to be moved and in a house by this time and we aren't even close Chat Icon we've been trying since January with no luck Chat Icon so it would be great if they at least extend it so we can also get the credit if we don't close before 12/1....

I am pretty sure they are going to extend it. I mean... why wouldn't they?

Now if they increase the limit to 15k and allow the credit to apply for everyone (not just first time homebuyers)... that would be fantastic.

I don't even care about the 15k, but if they would remove the first homebuyer restriction, that would really help a lot of folks out looking to upgrade their house.
