8k Tax Credit
Does anyone know if they extended it? I think you had to close by Dec 1 to be eligible right?
Can someone send me the link.....

Re: 8k Tax Credit
that is what i thought....
i was hoping they would extend it just for me
we *might* do the short sale thing again but if we get it there is a chance we won't close in time to get the credit

Re: 8k Tax Credit
Link to the program specs.
There is quite a bit of talk in Congress right now about extending it and lifting the $150k income limit for couples since in most metropolitan areas, you need to be making more than that combined to even aford a house. It hasn't happened yet, but wouldn't be surprised if it gets extended.

interesting...and thanks for the link!!
never in a million years did i think DH and I would have this kind of luck with house hunting - we actually laugh about it....
we found a house we like - same house as the first short sale that didnt work out for us......this one also has two mortgages but they are both with countrywide - supposedly they are one of the slowest with short sales but there is a good chance we'll get it - just a matter of waiting....broker told us 60-120 days for an answer is typical - 120 days would put us into November with a December closing which would mean no tax credit
we are trying to figure out if we should go for it or not.....we put offers on so many other houses that weren't short sales and have no luck....
its crazy!

Re: 8k Tax Credit
just a suggestion, but when you put your offer in maybe you should put that you must close prior to dec 1, or the house will be 5k less
