Re: would you call the police tonight about fireworks?

Nope. We were at a friend's home and my DH was one of the one's setting off the "illegal fireworks". He also told me this morning as I was about to run out to grab us breakfast that he had to take some out of my trunk that I didn't even know he put there!Chat Icon

We were in bed around 11:30-12 last night and I still heard a bunch going off in the distance.

Honestly, I'd be more concerned that the police focus on the drunk drivers instead of people setting off fireworks.

I was ready to call 311 last night because I swear there was a whole show going on in my backyard. Chat Icon

DD was sleeping too and they were going off until almost 11.

She slept through it all though.

I wouldn't have called if she woke up, though.

No. My neighbors were setting off all types of fireworks way past midnight last night. I wanted to call but I didn't. However, I have no problem letting my children go in the pool and scream and yell at 7 in the moring on Sundays now. Chat Icon

Re: would you call the police tonight about fireworks?

No, I wouldn't call. Fireworks are not illegal here. They were popping until about 11:30. They set off fireworks here for New Year's, Christmas, and Memorial Day.
It's just people celebrating one time a year (or more here) . I'm not going to rain on their parade.

I def would not!!!!!

In my neighborhood, you really didn't have to anyway because it was infested with undercovers all night. You couldn't set anything off even if you wanted to.

That's what's so annoying about this country. Too many people take fun holidays and use them as excuses to act in a harmful way---drunk and or incompetent idiots and their fireworks on the fourth, drunk driving on St. Patrick's day and NYE; vandalism on Halloween.

I wish more people could enjoy our fun and beautiful holidays without acting in a harmful and obnoxious manner.

I wouldn't trust every-day idiots with illegal fireworks (and alcohol) near my house and kids. The professional and organized shows, on the other hand are

I would have liked to, but I knew it would do no good. They started around my house at 9:15 and lasted till around 11:30, then started back up at around 2:30 am. They were also shooting them off on 7-3.

I have a 1yo and I put the ac on in her room hoping to block out the noise. But was on edge all night waiting to hear that cry.

Re: would you call the police tonight about fireworks?

We called the cops only once a few years ago because it was a hazard. They were shooting fireworks on the street as cars came by. It had been super hot and the lawns were dry. One rocket landed on our roof, one in our yard. I was so pizzed and scared my lawn would caught fire or my neighboors'.

This year to avoid DS to wake up, we ran the AC in DS' room so he would not hear it.

I love love love fireworks and my friends spend thousands each year to set up "shows." So no, I would not call the police even though my dog was freaking out the whole night.

ITA.

Love them and loook forward to them every year. Yea, they are illegal but it's the 4th and it's only acceptable on that day. It's not like it's happening every night.

Negative, it's only one day out of the year - unless it was like 3 in the morning - then maybe.....but why take the fun out of it for people? i know they are illegal but i think they are fun Chat Icon i'm always hoping we get to see some Chat Icon this was the first year we didn't go to the city to see the macys fireworks and i was disappointed that our neighborhood didn't have too many fireworks b/c of the cops Chat Icon

honestly, NO...I know they are illegal but honestly it is the 4th of July. I can see if someone was still shooting them off past 11:15 but IMHO, 9PM is too early to even complain. That is when the majority of the fireworks begin bc it is dark out.
