Moving and Preggo?!

Have any of you BTDT moms did this?

I don't want to be a primadonna once we get preggers - but we are going to test around July 25th (that would be CD28) - we are moving July 27th/28th Chat Icon

Did you worry about what you carried (the weight of the boxes) - if you haven't done this - would you worry?!

Plus the 27th at night - I had full on plans to paint the master bedroom with friends (since DH has to work).. Chat Icon

WWYD??

Re: Moving and Preggo?!

We moved when I was about 3 weeks pregnant, and then again we moved when I was 3 months pregnant. My husband did the majority of things, and told me not to lift anything over 10 lbs Chat Icon.

Basically all I did was organize things. But I didn't paint either.

What I am worried about is the 27th - I have about 6 people coming over - and IF we are preggers - the plan isnt to say anything until 12-13 wks.. Im going to have to figure out how to get around all of the cleaning products and paint without looking suspicious.. KWIM?

Re: Moving and Preggo?!

We moved from NY to IL when I was almost 3 months pg. But we had movers, so I didn't lift anything heavy and we didn't have to paint. I did clean, but the apartment was brand new, so I didn't use any strong cleaners. I'm not sure what I would do in your situation. If you do test positive, I probably would hold off on using any really strong smelling stuff. Maybe you could get the low VOC paint???

Re: Moving and Preggo?!

Now that we are pregnant, we have to move. I will be anywhere from 3-6 months when we do. Im just going to take it easy and do only what I can. In the beginning though, I would just watch what you lift. Im about 5-6 weeks now and the Dr told me not to really lift anything and to be careful.

Good luck!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ohhh true I gotcha now. Have you looked into Low- VOC paint? We just re-painted our master bedroom with Behr's low-voc paint, and I could barely smell it, and I was painting. They also have no-voc paint, but thats quite expensive, and I'm not sure if theres really a difference.

And get the all-green cleaning products! I use them anyways because I can't handle the smell of other products, and they work great, and aren't full of chemicals, incase you guys are pregnant!

Re: Moving and Preggo?!

We moved March 9th, DD was born April 9th. I painted the pantry in our new house. I just made sure it was well ventilated and took breaks. DH was not thrilled that I was doing it, but I HAD to.

As far as the physical move, I did alot of packing, but no lifting. The bending got to me after awhile-but I was also 9 months along Chat Icon Just take it easy and listen to your body!

Re: Moving and Preggo?!

We moved 5 days before I was induced. I was also on bedrest so I basically drove over to the house and then sat on the couch with my legs elevated. We had the house painted before we moved in b/c I didn't want to be around the fumes. If you're about 4 weeks pregnant, take it easy, but I wouldn't really worry about the lifting restrictions.

Re: Moving and Preggo?!

We moved from Queens to NJ when I was 4 months pregnant with DS.

I did a lot of packing, moved some boxes around the house when DH wasn't paying attention. We did get a mover to take everything out of the old house and put it in the new house. But I did do a lot of cleaning.

DH would not let me do any of the painting.

But all was fine!
