WWYD?
Last Oct. we were in "contract" on a short sale that had been on the market for quite some time. After waiting several months we decided to walk away from it for a number of reasons. (The main one being that it had already been a cold winter and since the house had been on the market for awhile, we were unsure of the condition of the pipes.) I continued to watch the house on listingbook and it was eventually withdrawn from the market. Well, back in the beg. of June, it came back on the market (and is currently less then what we originally offered). My husband thinks we should go and look at this house again, while I think we should just let it go. I loved this house but kind of feel that if it were meant to be, it would have worked out the first time. So, if you've read this far, wwyd? TIA!!

Re: WWYD?
if you love it, i say inquire about it - especially since there is a lower price that might be bank approved already........

Re: WWYD?
if you liked it- I would look again
but the pipes are a big concern
we walked away from a foreclosure once we found out the water main broke at the foundation
the orginal owner shut off the water- but didn't drain the pipes - we knew him- so we were able to get in before the bank accepted the offer
you would know if a pipe burst- this house had water in the basement and thru out the house in spots

Re: WWYD?
This could be "what is meant to be." you can get a house you were interested in for a lower amount!
what is more karma than that??

Re: WWYD?
I think you should reconsider the house. Don't worry about the pipes. If something is wrong it will show up on the house inspection. You can also look for water stains when you're walking through the house.

I'd look at it again. Who knows, maybe it was meant to be that you had to wait and get it for a lower price!

Re: WWYD?
Were the pipes replaced, I'm confused... if you had issues with the pipes during the winter so you backed out whats going to happen when winter rolls back around... I'm sure zero maintance has been done to the house since its a short sale, why would the owner put $$ into the house they can't pay the mortgage????
(I'm just trying to play the other side of the card )

Re: WWYD?
if the pipes didn't break over the winter they are fine. We bought a house with broken pipes & water damage. I think you should check it out again!!!

That's just it...we aren't sure if the pipes were replaced. We got the impression that the house became a forclosure and someone bought, intending to flip it. But we really have no idea what happened. It's no longer listed as a short sale (and it's not listed as a forclosure either). But the pipe issues is still one of my concerns b/c who knows if anything has been done.

Re: WWYD?
i would go look at it again. and go over the walls with a fine toothed comb looking for water damage. turn on the sinks, flush the toilets, see if you can hear anything.
there are two outcomes-- you either decide to let it go, or you move forward again with it. but at least you go back and arent left wondering about it.

Re: WWYD?
I would go again. We had a situation similar. A house we passed up, that I had only one reservation about, came back on the market. It was a house I kept saying "Maybe we shouldn't have passed up."
Well it came back on the market and when we went back...we saw something that made us say NO WAY, it's not for us. It was a way I could finally put an end to the debate about this house and now I never look back and say "too bad we passed it up..." b/c we are glad we did.
So look for sure, it may tell you more this time.
