Appraisal
We were told we couldn't know the appraised value of the house- just whether or not it appraised for at least as much as we offered (we haven't found out yet if it has).
It doesn't make sense to me because we paid for the appraisal.
Is this the norm?

Re: Appraisal
We had 2 appraisals done. One when we bought the house and one when we refinanced. Both times we were told what the house appraised for.

Re: Appraisal
We were given the paper work so we could see all the information and how they came up with our appraisal. That is wierd. You are paying for it, you should get a copy of it. I would talk with your lawyer.

Re: Appraisal
Who told you that? The appraiser or your loan officer? As an appraiser, I can tell you that some of our clients specifically instruct us NOT to discuss value with the homeowner, but the loan officer should be able to provide the appraised value AND a copy of the appraisal.
There's no reason why you should not be able to know the appraised value.

Re: Appraisal
When our house was appraised, we knew the amount within a couple of days. And when the house we were buying was appraised, it was the same thing.

i would discuss this with your loan officer

Re: Appraisal
You ABSOLUTELY get a copy of your appraisal.
We just got ours yesterday and it came in $30,000 less than accepted offer so now we have to wait and see what happens.
DH is a mortgage broker and unfortunetly appraisals are coming in lower than accepted offer price everyday. Good luck to you!

Same with us....but I do recall having to wait a little while for it. I think it was b/c they were waiting for the copy of the FINAL contract.
You are definitely entitled to know, and you should find out. You should also get a copy of it!
