Re: Mortage/Income %
You'll get more insight and responses if you make this a poll. Just a thought.

Re: Mortage/Income %
I would say the norm on LI is 30-40%, some probably higher b/c of the housing prices and taxes. It is probably less for people who live out of state or maybe even not on LI. I think ours is inbetween that range.

It's going to be about 45%. A little higher than we wanted, but DH gets yearly raises...and I should be due for one soon.

I think this is more like it for newer home buyers. We have a coop so our % is much less but once we have a home it would be about the same

Re: Mortage/Income %
Probably somewhere around 30% gross. Much less than that if I take into account all my side business income.

Re: Mortage/Income %
With our mortgage and taxes we'll be at about 40% of one income. I start working in September, this will help although most of it will go to child care.

Re: Mortage/Income %
including taxes, it will be close to 40% net.
however DH and i get yearly step and COLA raises so it will go down each year (assuming our taxes do not increase significantly).

Re: Mortage/Income %
With taxes and insurance, it comes out to about 17% of our monthly gross pay.
ETA: It's about 28% of our net pay per month.
