Day Care Moms...

I'm starting to get everything together that I will need for DD to start day care in a couple of weeks (Chat Icon) And have a couple of questions:

How did you label your DC's clothes?

If your DC was on a schedule at home, did starting day care really mess up any good sleeping habits your DC had? My concern is that DD sleeps REALLY well and takes two naps a day. She actually goes right back to sleep after her 6:30/7:00 am bottle, but she won't be able to once she starts day care since I will have to leave the house with her at 7:30am. She may fall alseep in the car on the way there, but she doesn't transfer well. I assume her nap schedules will change. Her 2nd nap is usually around the 2:00 time frame and she sleeps until 5ish. I'm just afraid she will not adjust well to he new schedule which will transfer over to her night-time sleeping. I'm pretty strict with her schedule at home. (She's 4 months old now).

TIA.

I just used a black marker on the label to ID DD's extra clothes/sheet, etc. I bought stick on labels for her bottles and bowls.

DD actually naps better at daycare then at home. They can still get her down for 2 naps while I can usually only get one. When you first start, they follow your routine-whatever your DD is used to, they will do. As time goes by and DD gets older, they fall into the routine of the class. I use Tag Mate labels from Mabel's - they are great!

I wouldn't worry about her naps. once she's there she will start a new one once she adapts to her new surroundings. Chat Icon

Re: Day Care Moms...

I used Mabel's Labels, but a sharpie marker works just as well. As for the routine, my son's routine definitely changed, but he was still napping the same amount of hours, just at different times. We adjusted, he adjusted, and after a couple of weeks it seemed like a routine again. Good luck, it's hard but it will work out.Chat Icon

Re: Day Care Moms...

Thanks!

What concerns me is that she is going to miss that morning nap since I have to leave with her when she would be sleeping normally. What I think will happen is that she will want to nap then around the 10am hour and will most likely nap for about 2 hours (she may not in an unfamilar setting though, who knows). Which will mean her afternoon nap will be later...

IDK... I'm such an an@l planner I know I have no control over this, so I should probably stop stressing over it! Chat Icon

Re: Day Care Moms...

I don't think the nap schedule was affected too much by daycare, it was more that around the time he started, his nap schedule was already changing a bit (he was 11 months). I found if he didn't nap well at daycare, he would just go to bed earlier that night. It didn't really affect his nighttime sleep too much.

I started out labelling everything, but after a while I stopped bothering with the clothes. He doesn't get changed too often at daycare and I send him in the cheaper clothes and hand me downs anyway. The only shirt I have actually lost in 8+ months is one that was labelled!

I must be the only one that wasn't impressed with Mabel's labels, but I used the iron on ones. Either I am a spaz or a really bad ironer (which is possible) but about half of the labels fell off and I had to try to re-iron them on. I did use a sharpie for some clothes. For the bottles and cups, I use a label maker, and then cover the label with a strip of clear packing tape. This worked really well and even goes through the dishwasher many, many times before I have to replace the label.

TAG MATES

I love Tag Mates as well! For some items I did use a sharpie though.
