My newborn needs to suck, but she keeps dropping her pacifier, what can I do?
It seems that my 2 week old likes to suck at night to comfort herself. I tried to get her to suck on her fist, but she isn't coordinated enough yet. I gave her a pacifier and she likes it, but after a while it drops out of her mouth, so I have to get out of bed and give it to her.
Is there anything I can do so she can satisfy her sucking instinct where I don't need to continuously help her?

She's still too young to keep in it consistently unfortunately. It's frustrating but for the next few months you'll have to keep putting it back in for her. MY DS is almost 4 months and though he keeps his in for a lot longer now on his own and can hold it himself, he still needs a little help putting it back in his mouth...he's not quite that coordinated yet. Hang in there

I'm in the same exact boat as you!! DD loves her paci and I have become slave putting it back in for her in the middle of the night. She gets so p issed when it falls out too!!

they sell pacis that are attached to a beanie baby type doll. You can lay it on babys chest and if he/she spits out the paci is right there to pop back in.. a coworker of mine swore by it.

At that age you just have to keep popping it back in. Not much else you can do.

You're in what we call pacifier He!!  I noticed the Nuk brand stays in her mouth MUCH better than the soothies. I STILL at 9 months have to get up now and then to give it to her.

Oh NO! I am not surprised that you ladies said that there is nothing I can do now to help this situation, but to still have this situation in 9 months????? 
Oh well. I gotta do what I gotta do.

Unfortunatly like the other ladies said, its just a hard stage to deal with but your her human "paci getter" for quite some time. And its torture on occasion! But you will survive

That thing just screams SIDS risk to me. Maybe if you are awake and monitoring her, but I wouldn't use it at night.
It's frustrating, but there is light at the end of the tunnel...about 6 months down the road for us!

yea i would NEVER use ANYTHING to help prop, or keep a binky in a babys mouth..if they spit up, and need to get the binky out, they should be able to pop it out..if something is always in there way, i dunno..seems dangerous to me..
it gets better..
