Anyone live at the beach?
How did you decorate your house? Did you go traditional or with a beachy theme? I love the beachy look but I'm so confused about what to do. We are moving there soon and it would mean getting rid of my heavy dining room and bedroom furniture and starting all over again. what would you do? I would love to see pictures.

I don't have any pictures but I was at the home store in RVC last week and they had such nice accents for a beach home.

Totally agree!
My mom has a lot of light furniture, light walls, light drapes. Her decor is very nautical. Lots of whale/lighthouse/ocean sunset pictures.

Re: Anyone live at the beach?
We live a couple of blocks from the beach. We did our den in a beachy theme, but that's it. When I redo my second bathroom, we'll do a beach theme in there. I'd definitely get coastal living.

Re: Anyone live at the beach?
we live across the street from the beach/lake. We have a few touches here & there that are nautical, I mostly use them in the summer. Outside we have a sign that says welcome to the lake & stuff like that. Our color scheme is not the typical beach theme. Yesterday in home Depot I saw a magazine by Coastal living that had different beachy colors in it, it was a special publication with great ideas.

Re: Anyone live at the beach?
I'm a quater mile from the beach and we decorated in a very beach cottagey way- pale blues and greens, some sea grass furniture, etc. I've still got some dark wood pieces, but they are mixed with pale couches and fabrics. My MIL is on trhe canal by me and her house is very nautical as well.

Re: Anyone live at the beach?
I totally forgot about "Coastal Living". Thanks so much. I'll check out the library and the magazine stand tomorrow. Someone told me a beachy theme is good for a vacation home but I would get tired of it year round. Has anyone found that to be the case?

Re: Anyone live at the beach?
We live in a beach town - 5 mins to bay beach - 6 miles to the ocean. Our house is not beachy at all as we live in it year round and thats not our style. I think if its your vacation home the beach theme is nice but not if its your year round living as you may get tired of all the blues and whites etc.
