My water broke - I am terrified UPDATE - 5/20
Well, my water broke at 10pm. I am going to the hospital and I am terrified. I wouldn't be so scared, but I found out that my doctor is not on call until Monday morning. I told him 100 times that I want him to be there, and he said don't worry, but I don't know how to get in touch with him. I really want to have a natural birth (no drugs), but I am so afraid that the docs at the hospital will hook me up to pitocin and other things which may make this impossible. I really really hope that someone can contact my doc. It doesn't seem likely now though. Please wish me luck. 
5/20 - I am home with my baby girl, Ilana Elizabeth!!! Both she and I are doing well.
I will have to post details at another time, but I delivered 37 hours after my water broke - thank goodness that although my doctor was not on call, he called in his messages, found out that I was in labor, and came to the hospital. After not sleeping for 2 days, contracting for 24 hours, not being dilated more than 2 cm, I needed the pain medication. And I have to say, in my case, it worked out really well. My nurse was fantastic and after 7 rounds of pushing (21 total pushes), my daughter was born. I will have to post my birth story, but now is so crazy busy hectic, and I am exhausted! But I was very lucky to have good people around me: my doc, my doula, my DH, my nurse....b/c there were some not so good people around as well looking to do things that I did not want. Thank goodness everything worked out and thank you all for the prayers.

First congratulations. Second call your obgyn there will be an option for an emergency number. Call that number and explain that your water has just broken and you need them to page your obgyn. Wait for him or her to call you back. In the mean time, I would take a shower and try to poop because it will be hard to do so after. Generally you have 24 hours to labor after your water breaks so you have some time. Have you started to have contractions? Time them and let your obgyn know how far apart they are. Also, pack the last minute things in your bag. I had to have a c/s b/c DS was breech and my obgyn did not end up delivering my DS. It really was ok. Good luck and congratulations!

Good luck! Try not to worry. You and your DH just need to speak up about what you want. Whoever the doctors, they have no right to medicate you if you don't want it and there is no serious medical reason for it!
