Car Alarms?

we are currently renting in Brooklyn and my next door neighbor has a car that they alarm has been going off every hour since saturday. I have seen him so it isn't like he is away and cant do anything about it. He doesn't even shut it off, it goes thru 3 or 4 stages of the alarm and then rearms itself.

Is there any law against this?
Can i call the police?

It is making me very angry since i haven't had a straight night sleep in 4 nights.

thanks

ETA
this is not a new thing but the problem now is that my landlord has the heat blairing so i need to open the window or i will die in my sleep. My bedroom is on the front of the house off the street.

Re: Car Alarms?

yes, it's illegal.... every town has a 'quiet time' that runs generally from 11pm to 6 or 7am. it's disturbing the peace. similar to having a house alarm going off for an hour, or a dog continually barking outside.....

we had a car alarm right outside our bedroom window go off about 10 times one night. It was horrible. (the same car regularly was parked near by, but this was by far the worst night with its alarm) I called the cops (but NOT through 911, obviously).

The cops came to the car, and did something... not sure what? summons? but the car has not returned.

Re: Car Alarms?

Is this something that 311 would handle? I am not familiar with their services, but know they were helpful for others in the past.
