Since when did light-hearted humor become bashing? Why do we take ourselves and others SO damn seriously? Humor is subjective, yes, but it's totally necessary in life. Otherwise no one would laugh, and what kind of world would that be?

Why can't we make fun of people - when did this country get so friggin uptight?
I thought it was funny...not racist.
I truly don't understand the mentality these days of not being able to make fun of anyone or anything...so we should all just walk around tiptoeing around everyone else's feelings.

when I read the original post, I knew it was a joke about african americans overcoming adversity.... basically the opposite of racism...
I read it as a proud black commentary and pun on the term 'when pigs fly' (as if it will never happen.... when voila! pig flu! 
sometimes, I think any comment concerning race is misinterpreted as racist, merely becuase the existence of races and racism is acknowledged....
sort of sad that a little clever joke has degraded into a thread like this...

I completely agree- this is how I read it, and I thought it to be a very clever and articulate way of glorifying what Obama has accomplished, by proving that the impossible was, in fact, attainable.
My JOB is civil rights/discrimination law. I deal with this stuff day in and day out. I have seen some of the most egregious, inappropriate, offensive, racist remarks. THIS is not one of them. It is neither intended to be offensive, nor racist.
I think we all need to lighten up a little.
