Mosquito Magnet?
Does anyone have one? If you do, does it really work?
I don't mind investing the $$ in it, if it's a sure thing.
I have about 1/3 acre of land that's butts up against state property, that is now a bird sanctuary. Our mosquito issues over the summer are RIDICULOUS! You can't enjoy the back yard.

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
My DH researched the heck out of them and from what he found, they don't work.

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
I was talking about this with someone I commute with the other day - we are close to a resevoir so our mosquito problems are insane (especially since it didn't get super cold over the winter).
He has the mosquito magnet and swears by it. He said it's the only thing that truly works. He was annoyed though because his stopped working after 2 years.

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
Suffolk County has but a mosquito magnet in the back of our house (not the MM brand but something very similar) to collect and test mosquitos. They do work.

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
How much do they cost? I already got bit 4 times yesterday! I didn't even think the mosquitos were out yet....but it seems they are.

Depending on your yard size. The 1/2 acre coverage MM recommended for the Northeast runs about $400 - for the full bundle.

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
I just ordered one today from HD (got a 10% online coupon) because the mosquito problem seriously ruined my summer last year. We couldn't go out on the deck without getting 10+ bites. I really hope it works.

I don't feel like googling...can anyone tell me how it works/what's it made of, etc? Safe for kids and pets and animals to be around?

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
Go to home depot and type "mosquito vacuum." That's the one we got.

Re: Mosquito Magnet?
the MM uses an attractant along with CO2 and Heat which all attract mosquitos and then when they are close it sucks them into a net. Yes safe around kids and pets
