I am so sorry you had to go through this, your poor baby, and poor you!
But hopefully DS will be able to eat food without problems now and will do much better!

I delivered my DD at columbia b.c they thought she would need surgery before she could be fed at birth (luckily she didn't end up having the issues they thought) and Columbia has the best pediatric surgeons and pediatric GI doctors in NYS. He was in excellent hands. Who was the surgeon?
I so sorry that you all had to go thru all of that. 7 weeks is too small to have to have any child go thru surgery. I hope he has a speedy recovery.  For him and your family.
Thank you!! The surgeons were Dr. Cowles and Dr. Rodriguez. Dr. Cowles was the chief surgeon in the operation. They were both amazing in how they dealt with us. The GI was Dr. DeFelice, she went above and beyond for us, I can't even begin to explain. She tracked down Dr. Cowles personally because she said he's incredible and followed up with us the whole night on her cell phone and came to visit him/us before and after the operation which she didn't have to do at all. We felt really taken care of with all of them.
So glad your DD didn't need the surgery afterall.

I am so sorry you all had to endure this! I know the torture you felt handing your baby over to the doctors and not being able to care for him, but you & your DH sound like you did great!
Thankfully Shane is recovering well and he looks just precious in the picture! Here's to many more nights of Shane having a full belly and sleeping on his own

What a great outcome! I delivered at Columbia b/c there was a possibility that DS would be in the NICU after he was born b/c I am diabetic. He was fine and didn't need NICU, but COlumbia is awesome. I am so glad everything worked out!

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Fortunately, your DS will never remember it, but I know it will stay with you and DH. My best friend's son just had the same surgery at Columbia, but he was rushed there mere hours after he was born. I know how tough it was for my friend. But now it's 3.5 months later and he is doing so well, and finally even getting a little chunky.
