How long do newborns wear mittens for?
I put a set or two of scratch-free mittens on my registry, but I was wondering how long they're actually supposed to wear them for? At what point can you clip their nails?

In the beginning you can actually ususally peel they're nails since they're so thin.

yep...its super easy.
DD wore them for about a week, maybe 2 cause she CONSTANTLY grabbed at her face

Some babies don't wear them at all...I had them on my son for maybe a week or two?? He would end up getting one off all the time, lol...even as short as we'd keep his nails he'd still find ways to scratch his poor face. I love the way baby mittens look, I think they are so cute but I don't think most people use them for very long! HTH

I used a tiny emery board to keep his nails smooth, so he never wore the mittens.

DD is 4wks old and I still have her in outfits with the built in mittens. Her hands always get so cold. I highly recommend getting some newborn outfits that have the built in mittens - helps to keep the baby toasty

i use a nail file on her side she was born I don't like clipping but I can file anytime and she doesn't like the mittens they were a waste of time for me she didn't like having them on

DS wore his for 2 months because he loved clawing at his face- it didn't matter how often I trimmed his nails. Instead of clipping, I just used an emery board or file. I didn't start using a clipper until he was about 6 months or so.

I only used them for 2 weeks, because she was always pulling at her eyes whenever they were off.

About 2 minutes.  DS got them off immediately after I put them on, even as a newborn.
I started cutting his nails when it seemed like he was scratching himself. I used a scissor and still do. I didn't peel the nails, because I was afraid that they would go too low. I couldn't file them and never really got the hang of the nail clippers.
