Playing music to your belly...
So we tried it this morning with the IPod speakers. It was so fun!!
I was a bit nervous towards the end because, when baby F was breach the midwife told me to play music to my V to turn it Well, I "think" baby has already turned and then this morning when I was playing music on the side.. I clearly felt the head shift to the side!! So I moved to the other side and the head popped back down.
It was hysterical to see the reactions. Some were really strong. DH is from TN and was thrilled to see that the baby likes Southern Rock Here's the results:
Baby boogied down to: -Fortunate Son- CCR (this made Daddy happy) -Sound of Silence- Simon and Garfunkle -Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd (One of Mommy's favorites)
Baby Danced a bit to: -Sitting, Waiting, Wishing-Jack Johnson -Your body is a wonderland- John Mayer (If baby is a girl.. this worries me... Little baby girl needs to learn to weed out players like this and not fall for the cheesy lines!) -Summertime- NKOTB :)
Just a tiny bit of dancing to: -Silent all these years- Tori Amos
No reaction at all: -Sexy Back-Justin Timberlake (Although, I danced to this) -Wheels in the Sky- Journey -Sweet Home Alabama- Skynard (we were a bit dissapointed with this reaction. Especially after Fortunate Son's reaction) -Intergalatic, fight for your right to party and brass monkey- Beastie boys (these were the last three songs we played. I am going to assume that baby was just tired of music and not that baby doesn't like beastie boys- that would make Mommy sad)
Have you done this? What does your baby like?

I'll be sad too if my baby doesn't like the Beastie Boys. You and DH are adorable!!! Great Morning Story.

Re: Playing music to your belly...
awww that is just SO CUTE!
I've done this too...but I have a playlist on shuffle for so I don't always pay attention to what is playing. Now and then I feel her kicking and I'll look over at my iPod to see what's playing. The other day I noticed it was our wedding song.
I have to try that though- to see if she shifts around. Honestly, I can't tell yet when she's flipping or moving around at all...I don't really see it yet either.
The only other song I noticed she goes nuts to is when my 4th graders play Old MacDonald on the recorder. The kids are hysterical when they play it, always asking if she's kicking or not.

I think I've read they can start hearing around the 20 week mark...that's around when I started playing music for her.
Funny though, she's probably gonna be de-sensitized to music thanks to my job! She hears nothing but LOUD singing and instruments from my students all day!

Re: Playing music to your belly...
Very cool! I will have to give it a try. I agree with you about John Mayer, she needs to learn early about those cheesy lines! And definitely give the Beastie Boys another try.....I am sure she has good taste, and if not, gotta try to cultivate it.
How exactly did "play music" to her? What exactly did you do? I would like to try it, but not sure how close to put belly to speakers, should I use headphones, etc.

I just used little Ipod speakers and placed them on my belly. The volume wasn't too loud but, enough to hear it. When I moved the speakers to the other side of my belly I would feel movment over there. It was pretty cool.
