Re: Ok, so I pick johnny up from school today...there is a paperclip in his hair..

Sorry to crash, but as an early childhood teacher, I am APPALLED by that teacher's behavior! How dare she! I would tell a parent about an issue like that (ie. strings on boots, distracting clothing/accessories, etc.) in a tactful manner..NOT take matters into my own hands (unless it was putting a headband in a backpack, etc.)...sorry your poor son went through that!

a little?...I would be VERY annoyed...and I would say something to someone higher up...that just does not seem right...I'm a teacher and would NEVER think of doing something like that...or saying something like that...

Man, I'm sorry, this just made me sooo mad.

Re: Ok, so I pick johnny up from school today...there is a paperclip in his hair..

First off, the teacher was WAY out of line for even suggesting you have to cut your son's hair much less put a paper clip in it. How would she like it if someone did that to her? It's none of her business what you do with your childs hair. I'm furious at her for you and think you need to have a conversation with the director AND the teacher. And she's supposed to be considered a special needs teacher??? Who DOES that to ANY child?? What a freakin' piece of work she is. The fact that she tells you he's doing fine and then unloads on you at certain meetings is very passive-agressive behavior and not appropriate for ANY education professional IMHO.

So- I would use a hair tie and put his hair in a mini ponytail with as much hair as would stay up. I never let his mom see, and never told her to cut his hair(I never would tell anyone that), but he seemed so much happier and more comfortable with his hair away from his face.

It may not have been appropriate, but I truly did have his comfort at heart. And I would never use a binder clip- because that could be dangerous.

That was just in the summer though when he was sweating to death...

I don't think this is inappropriate. The way the teacher spoke and the use of a friggin paper clip IS!!

That teacher is very lucky that I am not the mom she is dealing with b/c I would've seriously contemplated kicking her asss. At the least I would have taken my child to SHOW the Director what the teacher had done. It is despicable, out of line and unnecessary!! Please let the Director know what happened today as well as the other incidents!! I am so mad for you right now!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think that is disgusting! I am very upset for you and your son. While it is good to have a sense of humor about most things, I would not about this.

I would go in and speak to the Principal first thing in the morning. She showed no professionalism in this situation.

IMO you have every right to be PIZZED! I hate conflict too but this is crossing the line. I would talk to the director. Not right what she did to your son.Chat Icon

As a teacher, that was EXTREMELY unprofessional and I hope you get her azz fired. That is not a way to send a message nor is she his parent to judge!

I would be LIVID...and I would let the teacher know that I was! She had no right to do that to him and have him walk around like that for any part of the day. Talk to the director tomorrow

i think it's absolutely appalling and i think you have every right in the world to be livid.

she had absolutely no right to do that to your child.

i would personally raise absolute he!! with the school principal. this teacher doesn't deserve her job.

Honestly...if the child was uncomfortable and having a difficult time seeing...I dont see what she did as a big deal...(Honestly Id be happy that she realized he was uncomfy and tried to make it better)

BUT how she spoke to you- COMPLETLY unacceptable and inappropriate!

I'd be pizzed off too. It's not up to her to determine what his hair should look like. She embarassed him.

I'd say something to her & to the director. That's bs. If it was bothering him or getting in his way, then she should say just that "It seems to be getting in his way".

I agree with what was said above.
She was very very inappropriate.

Oooooohhhhhh MAN!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

First of all - the kind that books together - a BINDER clip, or a paper clip? Because binder clips (the black clips) can be very painful in a child's hair - and for someone who has difficulty communicating, if she put something painful in his hair, that is cruel... IMO

And... From someone who's son's hair is getting quite long - intentionally - I would be extremely unhappy with that teacher - your DS is adorable and his hair is fine - not even as long as Cai's!!!!

And, seriously..... Who is SHE to do that to his hair? Honestly - concentrate on TEACHING, you dumbass - if you want to do hair, become a hairdresser. Chat Icon

And, finally - her job is to teach, not to "drop hints" about you cutting his hair. She should be helping you to generalize what she is teaching in school... Highly inappropriate. I would have told her right then and there in the future, please spend your time teaching and not styling his hair, thank you. I don't need hints, I need him to be taught. Chat Icon

Re: Ok, so I pick johnny up from school today...there is a paperclip in his hair..

i would be super upset. you should report her to administration. not only was it inappropriate but what if the paperclip had come undone, as sometimes happens and poked him in the eye or something. that was such a stupid thing to do. she could have just mentioned it to you in conversation.

If you bought that for him for his 3rd bday, I think you would set him back in thearpy a good 8 months Chat Icon LOL!!!!

And to others who asked, this is what the clip looked like..a HUGE AZZ paperclip, not a binder clip..but this was almost worse because she wound all his curly hair around the grooves and it was bent upwards to keep all the hair back. NOT comfortable at all...
