Re: Does anyone purposely not tan?
I have never been tanning.
LOOK AT ME - I would look RIDICULOUS if I went tanning. I'd be glowing orange -- it just doesn't work for me. I have red hair, fair skin, freckles -- some people are not meant to be tan. If I do get sun exposure I burn, peel, and go back to white.

No, the only time I went tanning was for my wedding.

Re: Does anyone purposely not tan?
I never been to a tanning salon, but I use to tan in the summer. The past 5 years I don't do it anymore....i have a lot of sun damage because of it and I just decided that I look fine pale.
I also had two pre-cancerous moles removed and have to go for skin checks every 6 months for the rest of my life so that kind of scared me as well.
So not worth it in my book.

Re: Does anyone purposely not tan?
I'm African American and when I was younger, I just never worried about tanning or not because I believed the hype of "oh you have so much 'natural' protection, blah blah blah." I'm not that dark and I tan very easy. But now that I'm older, I do NOT purposely stay in the sun, and I wear a sunscreen every day. Tanning ages your skin VERY quickly. More importantly, there is the inherent skin cancer risk to take into account also.

Re: Does anyone purposely not tan?
I used to use tanning beds when I was in my early 20's and now I am paying the price. Seriously paying the price. I have had numerous basal cells removed and a squamous cell carcinoma removd by MOHS surgery. I go to the dermatologist three times a year and every time I go she removes something. Don't do it - it is not worth it. Get it out of a bottle instead.

Same here except I am blond. I embrace my paleness. That and both my mother, grandmother and two aunts have had to have skin cancer removed from them so I am hat and sunscreen all the way when I am in the sun.
