We don't have snow where I live but I think that's pretty odd. What did they do before you moved in? Chat Icon

When I was younger we ALWAYS shoveled the nice older ladies out on the block...

...the old witches who would yell at us, on the other hand, got nada!

Re: Giving the neighbor a snow job

we have a 90+ year old neighbor. the first time it snowed, DH shoveled for her. she then let us know that "the kid" down the block gets paid to do it so we shoudn't do it.

so now we don't do it because she doesn't want us to. but "the kid" (who is about 25) doesn't always do it.

so we don't know what to do.

Re: Giving the neighbor a snow job

I asked this question to myself today....b/c there I was shoveling my steep of a hill driveway today by myself b/c I couldn't get the car up it and my neighbor across the street whips out the snow blower....does my other neighbors driveway (mind that neighbor had been out there shoveling his own and he is a younger strong guy), does the sidewalk and then does his own and here I am struggling to get my car up our driveway and he doesn't even OFFER to let me borrow it.....(mind you it was just the 3 of us out there shoveling all together) THEN the other couple across the street from us had twins on Monday and there father who lives with them was outside telling me how excited he was about becoming a grandpa again...trying to shovel out his driveway (b/c his son and wife were obviously at the hospital still!) and the snow blower guy doesn't even help him!!! I finished my driveway, ran back inside to put on snowpants to help grandpa across the street but two other men from the other side of him, were out there helping him already.

Seriously i was so mad and like you I would've 100% have helped this man.

I don't expect people to help but it's a common courtesy...especially when the 80yr old man is out there by himself. (not so much me)

Re: Giving the neighbor a snow job

All my neighbors know that DH has cancer and we have a small child at home.

No one has offered to help us at all. Chat Icon
