 Re: Michelle Obama
ya know, I actually find myself getting a little at this thread....
why is it that every woman in the public eye gets scrutinized and torn apart with catty comments and insults?
this is the first lady, not naomi cambell... she's not in this position to be a model... she's a lawyer, professional, and mom.... The same goes for Laura Bush... she has also been a strong accomplished woman and rolemodel for our country.
why is it that we don't tear apart how the guys look? oh, that's right, becuase they're valued for their minds and accomplishments
sorry, vent over.... this poorly dressed female professional will let everyone return to the activity of the day.... ripping on accomplished women over her wardobe choices while her family performs the most patriotic act a family could do.. turning their lives upsidedown for the next 4-8 years for the betterment of the country

B/c i think the thread started as a comment on her outfit - they spent many hours commenting on it on CNN - she spent many hours determining what she is going to wear - this is what the thread is about. It is not a thread stating that she is unintelligent or uneducated or diminishing any of her accomplishments. If men wore fancy dresses instead of boring suits, I would be commenting on them as well!

in all seriousness, I totally understand their relationship... it was born from work... much like DH's and my relationship.... he's blind to my 'beauty' also
but he loves me because I'm a reuthless manscript editor and his hardest scientific critic.... as he is for me
you can tell their mutual admiration when they look at each other while dancing.... very cool.....

 Re: Michelle Obama
I am certainly no fashionista or beauty queen, but the lemon-grass yellow dress is just horid. It did nothing for her!
In addition, she has a very "manly" walk and very large feet. Black shoes should be her best friend.
I don't find her attractive at all. I don't get warm and fuzzzy feelings from her. In fact, do I dare say that she reminds me a bit of Mr. Ed. I think it is her teeth and her long face.
Biden's wife needs to get a clue and either hire or fire her stylist. That outfit was just inappropriate for the seriousness of the event.
And Men don't get judged too harshly because well, what do they really have to choose from? A dark suite and a tie, that's about it!
The ball gown is gorgeous, I just don't think that white should have been worn. Maybe a champagne or a gun metal grey!

I agree with you that wear she wears has nothing to do with her character & isn't really important in the grand scheme of things, but I also don't think there is anything wrong with discussing it.
I wouldn't call her a derogatory name for picking something I wouldn't, but I like clothes & I like to discuss them.
I am interested to see what someone in that position would chose & I like to see who the designers are, and discuss stupid things like, is that dress green or yellow & do green gloves go with it. It's a hobby, and any clothing in the public eye is open for discussion.
I do try & keep my critique to the clothes, not the person, though. There is no need for personal attacks, which unfortunately, is where this thread has gone.
And for the record--Biden's electric blue tie was mocked earlier!

 Re: Michelle Obama
If she didnt want us to talk about her dress she wouldnt have kept it a big secret this whole time. She was just as excited about it as we were to see it. I see nothing wrong with acknowledging that a woman is a WOMAN regardless of her position of authority and appreciating her fashion choices.

i think that the outfit was eh.
michelle obama is beautiful, as is laura bush.
i always wonder what people look like to make them judge peoples faces/looks so harshly.

Well, as for me I am THE most BEAUTIFUL woman in the world
Yes I was very harsh judging Michelle Obama, but oh well , this is a public forum after all. People come to these websites, to chat, gossip and sometimes judge celebritie's (or first ladies for that matter) faces/looks . Sorry if I offended anyone, including Michelle Obama. But I am entitled to my opinion. Plus my DD finally took a looooong nap yesterday afternoon and I took advantage of my "free time"

ITA. I even feel that way on the celeb board when people say that a 115 pound seleb looks huge. I'm always like --what do these guys look like to be so harsh. I also often wonder how all of our kids will grow up (healthy or not) if we speak this way around them.
