Is it rude to point out rudeness to someone else?
Would saying "no need to be so rude" make me rude too?
I was speaking with someone earlier or I should say they were speaking AT me. This phrase was on the tip of my tongue the whole conversation but I just couldn't make myself say it.
What do you think? Would you say it? Have you ever said something like it to anyone? Am I a bad person for fantasizing about them slipping on some ice? Am I asking a lot of questions?

I don't use the word rude. I do guilt trips thought. I say things like.
" I find it really inappropriate for you to tell......"
"I am shocked and find it hurtful that you would take the liberty to do/say..."
"I am not sure why you feel the need to lecture me on...."

i dont know if it's rude or not, but i say it when it needs to be said. I don't know if you want to go by me though, if your goal is to win friends and influence people

Next time pull out a fish and slap them in the face with it.

Or just say "I have to say, what you're saying would come across much better if you weren't talking to me in such a harsh way"

I would (and do ) to friends and family. I tend to be a bit more reserved with strangers.

Re: Is it rude to point out rudeness to someone else?
I've called people out on being rude plenty of times... sometimes they apologize, other times they get ******... but you know what, they need to hear it... I feel like I'm doing them a service so they're not so quick to treat someone that way in the future.

Nah, just make a really loud cat screech at them. That usually gives them the hint.

I find that saying things like that to truly rude people rarely makes an impact.

Considering that I tell my class all the time when they are being rude, no. Rude behavior needs to be nicked in the bud.
