Just on the news- Flock of birds or geese could've caused the plane to go down

They are calling the pilot a hero - that it was as perfect a landing as you could have with no engines and landing on water!
he truly is a HERO

I am watching CNN and it so nice that all the passengers are talking about how great the pilot was and thanking god that he was the pilot.

Man I live on the Hudson 20 blocks up from there....the west side highways is littered with ambulances.... this is craziness. I can't see it the actual crash from my window, but there are tons of boats right outside...

The passengers & crew are being sent to St. Vincents...
So far no mention of any casualties.
They said immediately following the crash NJ ferrys turned around from their routes to go immediately over to the plane to help.
Kudos to those captains for using their heads and helping out!!!

Unbelievable. A witness said the pilot made a last minute effort to gain altitude so the plane made a smooth landing b/c it was angled up. That pilot saved everyone!

Wow all I have to say is that pilot should get some sort of recognition for what he did. He is a hero and could not have done a more perfect landing under the circumstances. . I hope everyone on board is well and getting warm. They been through alot.
I also applaud the NJ ferrys for coming to aid of all the passengers and crew. They deserve kudos too.

My DH is a pilot, and says that it's ALWAYS best to ditch in the water in case of engine failure. The pilot is definitely a hero--everyone is alive because of him.
I'm SO freaked out that it was a NYC-Charlotte flight. One we have taken so many times.

Kudos not just to the pilot, but also to the crew for preparing for the emergency landing. Without acting to get everyone armed and ready beforehand, I doubt all would have survived.

they just had a very cute survior on channel 1
how freaking scary is this
he was trying to find his family- his dad, uncle, brother all were on the plane for a golf trip

Oh wow, they are interviewing some passengers right now. One is talking about how he helped the women and children first. He doesn't think there are any casualties

FBI, Home Land Security, NYPD all confirm all were rescued and are safe and sound!!
