Your children and your pets...
How do you keep your dog from playing with your kids' toys... and how do you keep your kids from playing with your dog's toys?
(asking on behalf of my SIL)

Re: Your children and your pets...
Surprisingly my dog has been pretty good so far. When he goes for one, i just make this sound (kind of like a times up buzzer, kind of sound. ha!) and he backs off. The only thing he really goes after is the cookie monster or elmo dolls.
As for when Jacen is old enough to go after Jedi's balls or rawhide, well based on my nephew who loves to put my dogs balls in his mouth (there is just no right way to make this sound, not like it reads)... well i imagine Jacen will do the same. Our dog doesn't have any stuffed animals (he tears them apart) so i just have to worry about his balls going in jacens mouth.

We have a playroom that most of Logan's toys are in and Brodie can't get in there without one of us being there too.
And Logan's old enough now at 20 months that he knows not to play with the dog's toys.

Re: Your children and your pets...
I didn't have a dog until my kids were older (3 and 5) so I might not be a great help but we just told the kids that Thunder's toys were HIS toys. They don't really find his chews or tugs appealling so it was never a huge issue. They have no desire to use Thunder's balls since they are usually punctured or covered in slobber. Thunder has his own room and he has his own bucket for outside toys. The boys have their own playroom and their own bucket for outside toys.
Thunder DID chew up a Big Wheel and a couple of Water Blasters - but that taught the kids to put their stuff away to avoid it becoming a chew toy!

Re: Your children and your pets...
My dog is 4 so she has little interest in DSs toys, occasionally a squeaky toy will catch her interested (when it is brand new) but we tell her now and that’s that. Just now at 1 DS has taken an interest in the dogs toys, mostly the stuffed ones he just chase her with trying to get her to take them from him, the raw hide he will try to put in his mouth, but the only thing we can do is watch him and tell him No until he gets it.
