Pearls of wisdom - going back to work tomorrow
The day has come. I have spent 20 wonderful weeks home with my DD. Tomorrow I go back to work full-time as a h.s. guidance counselor.
I am devastated. I just put my DD to bed and cried so hard her poor head was soaking wet.
How will I get through this?? Even if I do get through this, I have to go back again the next day
I just feel like I will lose it pulling out of the driveway knowing that's it... maternity leave officially over. I can't imagine her day being planned by someone else. I was always the one to decide when she eats, what we do for acitivities, when she naps, everything. Now it will only be me on the weekend. During the week I will only see her for 3 maybe 4 hours and she will take a nap at least for 1 of those hours.
I wish I could be the stay at home Mom that MY Mom was
Any tips from BTDT Moms. Sorry this is so long...

Re: Pearls of wisdom - going back to work tomorrow
I went back after 20 weeks also. It was great to have so much time off but at the same time it made it more difficult to go back. All I can say is tomorrow and the first week will be really hard. But you will get into a routine and thing will get better! Good luck tomorrow

Re: Pearls of wisdom - going back to work tomorrow
I went back to teaching in Sept. and it is really OK
Get into a routine, lay out as much as you can the night before. I find work is so busy it keeps my mind off of missing DH. You will be fine!
Good luck

Re: Pearls of wisdom - going back to work tomorrow
I was home 11 months and then went back. I still think about DS every day, but I am busier at work now than when I first went back, so it has gotten easier. You will get into a routine and you will make the most of the time you do have with him.
My house is often a wreck and we still aren't completely unpacked from our move this summer, but I would rather spend time on the weekends playing with him and doing things with DS and DH than worrying about the house too much.
It helps me to know that I really like the daycare he is at and the teachers really seem to love the children they care for. It does get easier.

The first few days/week is the hardest, but I promise that it will get easier after that.

It will be okay. As I said before, the wait was more torturous than anything. Good luck
