Thats terrible and there were some shows on there that I still wanted to see like Boeing Boeing and Young Frankenstein..
I am looking forward to West Side Story which begins showing in Feb and opens in March 09

it stinks, but in this economy its just not feasible for people to be able to spend so much on bway tickets, even though its for a good show.
i admit that for DH and i to see a show--and get orchestra seats, you're looking at around $240 or more for 2 people and that doesn't include transportation and dinner! (Luckily we ride the LIRR free) For those who don't--that's another 20-40 round trip for 2 people depending on distance...or parking can be $$$ if you drive in, and getting dinner--you're looking at a $350-450 kind of nite just for 2 people!! I can't imagine how it must be if you want to take your kids to see one of the Disney musicals...just the tickets alone for 2 adults and 2 kids has to be upwards of $500!
its like that for so many things that used to be for families...try going to a baseball game...4 people...decent seats for less than a couple hundred bucks plus food at the stadium.

My DH bought us tickets to see The Little Mermaid in March.
I hope the show is still running by then! 
But it seems the Disney ones are OK. They just have carzy promotions going on!

Maybe they should cut down on ticket prices so more people can afford to go. I mean over $100 for orchestra seats? They don't need to charge that much. If the prices became more reasonable I think more people would go.

I agree 100%.
I would love to go see a show every now and than. But between the ticket prices, the surcharges a train ticket or cost to park, it's just not possible. It all adds up quickly.
