Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I did, and I was fine. I worked on a Friday, went into labor that evening while I was sleeping.

I knew myself and I knew if I stayed at home I'd drive myself crazy. I was uncomfortable, of course, but it wasn't beyond reason.

i would LIKE to...but i don't know how realistic that goal is.

I sit in an office all day long - putting out fires (not literal fires) - as an Office Manager..so i'd like to think that I'll be able to be here...

I know lots of women who have done it and I plan to do it myself. I would rather have the time off after the baby is here.

...I just hope the baby gets here soon!!!

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I did it with DD, but not quite on purpose. I had planned on taking a few weeks off, but I stopped working on a Thursday and my water broke that Monday.

I had a feeling that DD was coming that week though - she was almost 3 weeks early.

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I guess I can say that I did. I was out for 10wks during my pg because I was contracting but then returned at 35wks and worked up until I delivered at 39wks. I left work that morning (work nights) feeling "a little off" then literally 2hrs later I went into labor.

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I was at the office until about 11PM, and gave birth at 10:24AM the next morning. I actually was debating whether to come to the office that morning.

Anyway, next time I think I'm going to give myself a little breather Chat Icon

A friend of mine did this TWICE and she's a teacher and on her feet all day. it's possible. it all depends on your health and what you can handle.

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I did it with DS Tuesday I worked and that night at 2 am my water broke. I was a week and half early, but planned to stay until baby was born regardless. 1- my due date was Aug 5th, AC at work is cheap Chat Icon and 2 - i was a mortgage Underwriter so i was at a desk most of my day 3 - i would have been bored senseless sitting home everyday. I don't think you are foolish at all, but then again I don't know what you do. Do what you can handle.

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I did, but only because I was 2 1/2 weeks early. Chat Icon

I had an internal exam on Wednesday, contractions started on Thursday (Thanksgiving) and I had the baby on Sunday morning. I was thinking about not coming back in full time that week, maybe just 2-3 days a week until my due date, but the baby decided for me.

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I plan to. I am a teacher, due on 12/23--the last day of school before vacation. If I stopped working now, my FMLA would start and I want those 12 weeks AFTER the baby!

Yep, did it with DS and plan to do it again. Came home from work on a Friday afternoon, went into labor on Sunday night. I didn't want to take off early and use up any of my precious FMLA. Also, I knew I would go nuts if I were out of work and sitting around just waiting for the baby to come.

Re: Has anyone actually worked up until they gave birth

I plan on working till I give birth. Hopefully it works out where my water breaks at home or late at night. A girl here at my office starting going into labor so on the way to the car her water broke in the parking lot
