Morning sickness

Is hitting me hard (and by the way, whomever coined the term "morning" sickness was a ****** freakin' MORON).

What are/your tricks for dealing with it? I'm not puking, I just feel really, really queasy all day, like I have a horrible hangover. The only thing that makes it feel better is to eat carbs, but 20 minutes later, it comes back.

I'm having a hard time getting work done... any suggestions?

Actually, I just had a craving for a watermelon Jolly Rancher. I feel like that may do me some good.

I found fruit worked for me, but only melon... canteloupe or watermelon. And carbs. But the fruit kept it bay a little longer.

What "sort of" helped me get through the day was crackers and gingerale, or coke, i would constantly be sipping it all day...and carbs all i ate was plain pasta and toast, sour candies helped me too, sometimes i would suck on lemons, oh and chewing gum...

I have the same thing and my saving grace has been Ritz Crackers. i bought the low salt ones. See I am only VERY nauseous when I am hungry, which seems like every 1-2 hours. So i eat those crackers when I am not eating a meal and it helps.

I have to constantly eat. I have the small fruit cups all day long and lots of toast and dry foods. I am eating every 30 minutes, and it tends to help for the most part.

I was a big water sipper to help with queasiness, but I didn't have it very bad.

My sister uses those magnetic bands. She is into holisitic medicine & found them very helpful. You can get them in a healthfood store. She also swears by ginger.

If it gets to the point where you are sick all of the time, you may want to speak to your doctor about Zofran (if they still prescribe that - I'm out of the loop).

I'm going to discuss it with my doc at my appt. tomorrow. I used it with my pregnancy with Alex on the god-awful days, and I can feel that those days are rapidly approaching...

my dr told me to take 25mg of Vitamin B6 3 times a day. That seemed to help.

Also I went to the health food store ad the gentleman that worked there told me his wife used to take crystallized ginger whenever she felt sick...I started it but it tastes yucky, i dont like ginger!

Coke helped a lot too!

I have the same thing - just nausea no throwing up. I am crawling through the work day. I started drinking lemonade yesterday - I cut it with seltzer and its helping a little. I am eating lots of carbs too. Chat Icon

I'm not having it this time around - but I felt exactly like you do with DD. I found keeping my stomach full (nibbling all day on small things) and sipping constantly helped. You said carbs help - can you maybe get a bagel or something else and split it up and eat a small piece every say 10-15 mins - you don't need a lot - but I found that this helped. It doesn't matter what it is - whatever you can tolerate - but small meals and snacks seemed to work best for me.

Also water with lemon - or get some juice that you like and take a bottle of water - and put in a glass say 10% juice and 90% water - I found that helped me as well.

When I wasn't eating I found ginger altoids were good to suck on.

Feel better soon!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Morning sickness

Morning sickness kicked in for me a few days ago and I've been feeling the SAME way you do. Not vomiting, but nauseaus all day long (especially when I'm hungry) and all I can eat is carbs.

I've noticed that keeping ritz crackers with me all day long helps -- keep them in a baggie in your purse so that no matter where you are, you can have them. I've been having to eat every hour or twoChat Icon

Re: Morning sickness

I am suffering with severe nausea all day long. I feel like when I am not eating I am nauseous and all I can tolerate is some form of bread- with cheese or cream cheese. I have also been eating a lot of sour candy right now because it is helping tremendously. I know the sugar is not good, nor are the tons of carbs, but I really don't know what else to do.Chat Icon
