Suffolk OBGYN girls..I have a ?
I have been there 3 times since my pregnancy and I have seen 3 diff doctors! Is this normal? I was extremely happy with 2 of them and I wasnt thrilled with the other one. Can I recommend to stay with one doctor? Or not see a specific doctor?
I would love to see Petraco or Longrano every time.

I love Dr. Petraco. There is also a doc there that I met once and I am so glad he only practices GYN because I would be very upset if he delivered my baby.
I have never asked to not see a specific dr. so I am not sure what they would do.
Suffolk OBGYN it is a practice and they want you to see many different docs since you don't know who will be on when you deliver, etc.

Unfortunately, if you have to be seen more than the typical appointments (monthly, then biweekly, then weekly) you will probably need to see different doctors for many appointments...I had low amniotic fluid with this pregnancy and was monitored twice a week and had no say in who I saw ever or when I was seen...didn't make me happy at all! I did meet almost every doctor in the practice, but I would have preferred to stick with the doctors I am comfortable with and not worry about who delivered my baby! I personally found them to be less than accomodating this pregnancy and will probably not stay with them due to this.
For me, if I had a pregnancy with no complications, a large group would be fine for me, but since having complications, I realized that I need the doctor to know my situation each week without me needing to explain it to them each visit!
ETA: You can request specific doctors for your visits...I always see Dr. Strittmatter, Dr. Lee, or Dr. Lograno if possible

It's normal, they will schedule you with whomever unless you specifically ask for one doctor. I ALWAYS asked to see Dr. Petraco and I was lucky enough to see him for about 95% of my pregnancy. When I had to schedule my C-section I specifically said I wanted Dr. Petraco and he did my C-section too. He's awesome!!

FYI - I had GD and for the last few weeks of my pregnancy I had to be in the office 2X/week every week for monitoring until I delivered. Because I was very flexible with when I could come in because I was off for summer vacation I was able to choose who I wanted to see. I scheduled all but one of those appts. with Dr. Petraco. They don't care if you want to stick with one doctor for your appts. but you have to be flexible with when you're available for the appts. But you're right in that unless you schedule a C-section ahead of time there is no telling who will deliver your baby.

I can definitely see you being able to see whoever you want if you can schedule your appointments with some notice and have a flexible schedule...I was only told each visit when I would come back next, so I scheduled my appointments 3-5 days in advance usually and needed a BPP each visit, so I had few options in appointment times. I was usually being "fit" into the schedule because the sonos and appointments didn't always match up.
I am also a little negative with the practice because they would offer me one time for my appointment and it was difficult to work it around my job and my family. I found the Patchogue ladies to be more willing to help with making appointments than the ladies in Port Jefferson
