UPDATED - No fert report today

Dr. Droesch just called me. It's always a bad sign when she calls herself.

My eggs were too immature to ICSI yet. Dr. Moodie is going to look at them again today, probably right now, to see if they are mature enough to ICSI. I am so upset. They are going to call me tomorrow to let me know if any fertilized. I am upset and ******. The past 2 cycles I've had a problem with immature eggs. They were suppose to let me coast an extra day or two on stims this time to help with that situation. I thought it was strange when I had to trigger after only 2 nights on ganerelix. I asked Dr. D. what happened with that and she said "well, I was looking over your records and it seems that you had larger follicles than last time so that's probably why the decision was made to trigger". Um, she didn't say she made that decision so who did???

I asked her if she could have Dr. Moodie call me today after he looks at the eggs. She said he is very wrapped up today but she'll see if he has a moment. ***???

UPDATED - Ok, Dr. Moodie called me back. What a nice man. He really put my mind at ease. 7 were mature today and he was able to ICSI all 7. We'll know the fert rates tomorrow. We've decided that if I have less than 3 fertlize, we are going to thaw out my one embryo from my last cycle and transfer that one too. But, he has a feeling that I won't need to!!! He said he's pulling for me and keeping his fingers crossed. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: No fert report today

That is crap, I don't blame you for being annoyed. She should have been the one, knowing you've had issues with immature eggs in the past, to make the decision on when to trigger you. I'm so sorry Chat Icon

I agree! I thought they based when to have you trigger based on estrogen levels and not the size of the follicles?

I'm sorry you are dealing with this! Like this journey itself isn't stressful enough. I'm angry for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: No fert report today

First off I am sorry you are going through this. From what I understand, the decision to trigger is based on number of large enough follicles and estrogen levels. This is somewhat of an art rather than an exact science and I know that not all follicles contain mature eggs. My guess is that either Dr. Brenner or Dr. Kenigsberg made the decision to trigger you if it wasn't her. Let's hope they can mature a bit and make it to ICSI.

Thank you and I understand that. My situation is different. After my last failed cycle, I sat down and spoke to Dr. D. directly and we discussed the fact that I always have a good number of eggs but low maturity. My follicle size and estrogen levels are always perfect and show that I should have more mature eggs than I end up having. Therefore, we discussed that even if my blood work and follicle size showeds I was ready to trigger this time, based on my history, they were suppose to let me coast another day or two. It doesn't sound like they let that happen.

First I hope this cycle works out for you. I also wante dto say that this exact thing was why we chose NOT to go with LI IVF. I knwo a lot fo people go here and love it but I just figured I would add my 2 cents. I felt like their protocol is all the same pretty much and they do not waver. We did not like that. Good luck with this cycle. I hope this is it for youChat Icon

I'm glad Dr. Moodie called with the good news. I thought that they did let you coast a day before triggering.
