Re: SO TORN... flu shot or no flu shot?
I said no. My OB didn't fight me.
I got the shot many years ago and I was not imaginging it, I felt like crap, feverish, etc for 2 mths afterwards. So I said never again. I also never have had the flu that I can think of so I don't worry about it too too much.
I hope I don't regret it but I had no other choice in my mind.

I got it, as I do every year. My OB strongly recommends it and I trust her fully. She also recommends it for those who will be in close contact with the baby - dh and our parents and siblings.

Re: SO TORN... flu shot or no flu shot?
Its so funny- It seems all OB's are different....My DS got the flu shot so I asked my OB if I should....He asked me if I'd ever gotten the shot before and I said "no" ....His theory is "why start now and went on to tell me that in his opinion- the flu shot is more of a marketing thing for pregnant women- I can't really remember enough to expain his rationale but when he said it - it made sense...So I ended up not getting it....

Re: SO TORN... flu shot or no flu shot?
Got mine yesterday. I have gotten the shot before and I have always gotten really sick the years I didn't get one. I had the flu before and let me tell you I wanted to die, I can not imagine getting it while pregnant. It would be even worst, which for me is unimaginable. I asked my doctor about it and he said it was OK if I wanted one. I decided better safe then sorry.

I am 22 weeks and i am not getting it my is against it b/c of the murcury in the shot. they have a mercury free shot
I have never had a flu shot before but my doctor strongly suggested it. So I went today (I'm 16.5 weeks) and the shot I got was mercury free.
Feel okay so far....

Re: SO TORN... flu shot or no flu shot?
I was sooooo torn as well!! You are not alone. I was offered the flu shot at 29 weeks and declined it. I decided at 33 weeks to get it- the one w/o the thimersol.....I feel like better about it not having the perservative in it....I'm happy with my choice!! Do what you feel is thr right thing for you.....everyone has a different opinion about this!

Re: SO TORN... flu shot or no flu shot?
This is me, never had the flu, never had the flu shot... and i feared the one timei get the shot i would get sick
I did get it only because he is due right in the middle of flu season and I figured it couldnt hurt to pass the antibodies onto him from the shot... believe me I was VERY reluctant, and still wonder if i should have gotten it... although i would wonder if i should have if i didnt get it.

Re: SO TORN... flu shot or no flu shot?
I've been getting the shot for the past 3 years and have not had any side effects!! I've had the flu in the past and there was no way that I was going to risk getting it this year!! I had my shot last week with no problems!! My OBGYN was very happy to hear I had it- he highly recommends it!
