38w appointment update
So today was my 38w appointment and the second dreaded internal.
TMI alert - I got undressed to get ready for the exam and as I sat on the table I started leaking! So when the doctor came in I told her and so she wanted to make sure it wasn't amniotic fluid so she called the nurse who then proceeded to bring in the largest speculum into the room. I almost lost my lunch. It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life and I seriously thought I was going to pass out. I don't know if I am just a wimp or what but I really wish I had kept my mouth shut about the fluid! Anyway, it wasn't amniotic fluid but apparently I have my 4th yeast infection of my pregnancy. She hooked me up to the ultrasound for a sec to measure the fluid as well just to be sure.
Then I had the internal and although it still hurt like a mother, after the fluid exam it seemed a lot easier. I am just about 3cm and 50% effaced and the baby's head is still very high.
So the plan is for me to continue to play it by ear. I have a scheduled C/S for 11/18 (my due date) but if I go into labor on my own before then it will be a kind of wait and see if I will need the C/S since is so big and they are really not sure I'll be able to get him out on my own.
Either way she told me to make sure my bag is packed!

ugh, sorry to hear of that experience.
Can I ask a dumb question? How did you know you had yeast infections? I leak all the time, but thought it was "normal".

The first one I didn't feel at all - it was at my first appt and when I had my annual exam the doc saw it. The second one was immediately following (the medicine didn't work so it was really like the first one just continued.)
The third one I got from taking an antibiotic. Today's I also don't feel...the leaking I experienced when I was at the appointment was A LOT and different than my normal "leaking" which I've had the whole pregnancy. This is why she was concerned it was amniotic fluid especially since I'm so far along. She took several swabs and looked at them under a microscope - that's the only way she could see it was yeast since I wasn't having any symptoms of an infection.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I have a very low threshold for pain so I'm not looking forward to internals. You're getting so close!
