Planning a party for my DH - with a 1978 theme (year he was born)...
Where can I find clothing from this time w/out having to rent a costume?
Also - do you think it's silly to ask guests to come dressed in something from that time?

Not sure where you can find the clothes but no, I don't think it's silly to ask your guests to come dressed like that. That sounds like a fun idea!

we had a 70's themed 30th for my dh's birthday.
I had the luck of finding a Sat Night Fever tshirt at Mandee's and a pair of plaid flare hip huggers at a store on Broadway.
my dh wore regular jeans but was given a butterfly collar paisley button down to wear, buttons open, chest hair exposed and dressed up with gold chains  
lot's of other people came dressed up similarly. some wore HUGE afro wigs etc.
it was so much fun!
the walls were decorated with movie posters of the era and disco beads etc.
we had a blast.
