Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I had to tell as soon as I got BFP b/c I deal with radiation and some tests i can get a slight bit of exposure to, so to make sure i didnt get assigned to those exams I had to tell them right away.

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

13 weeks

ETA: I don't think it's wrong to wait, but I was definately showing at 20 weeks. I felt I should tell him before he figured it out for himself.

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told my boss at 13 weeks b/c I found out the week before I transferred over to this dept (same company) they had been waiting for me for months b/c my previous dept was a bunch of jerks .........

So I felt bad and I wanted to give them as much time prep if necessary as possible .......

If it were my old dept. I would have waited until I had no other choice .....

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I dont want her to find out from anyone but me. I think that would be unfair so I have to tell before I pop.

She is going to have to find someone to replace me while Im gone, and Ill have to train that person.

I wanna make sure I give her enough time, but I also wanna make sure Im "out of the danger zone" as well.

Im so nervous.

I broke the news last week at 13 weeks. I was nervous about it also but everyone has been super supportive and happy for me.

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told at 12 weeks. My mgrs and some co-workers already knew being I quite smoking & stopped drinking beer (happy hours is part of my work life). They were genuinely happy!!

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told my boss at 18 weeks. As long as you tell him/her before you are showing, I think you are fine.

Everyone carries differently. I'm almost 19 weeks now and am still not showing. I could easily have waited until 20 weeks and probably a few more weeks after that. If this is your second child, you will most likely show earlier.

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told at 7 weeks with DD (only because I had bad MS).....I hope with my second I can wait until 12 weeks.

If I were you I would tell at 12 weeks, 13 the most. You will probably somewhat be showing by then. And you know everyone in that place has radars.

Both times I told @ 14 weeks

The time off for doctor appts was making them suspicious already anyway (both times).

Well- I have been to the Dr alot lately (all pregnancy related) when I gave my boss all the dates Ill need to take a long lunch or leave early; she just looked at me and said "Are you alright?"

I felt bad and said- "yep Im fine, just follow up apt.'s"

She said "ok just wanted to make sure you werent dying on me"

I feel like Im lying...

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told my boss both times after my 12 week appointment. You may start to show and I know in my office, my boss would have been really upset with me if she found out from someone else and being you work with all women, someone is going to catch on.

ETA: I would not wait until 20 weeks, I think it is only fair to give your boss enough time to find someone she likes and you have enough time to train. Plus we only want a good temporary replacement Chat Icon

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

Im a HS Counselor. I was originally going to tell at 12 weeks, but that fell over the summer during one of our weeks off. I ended up telling everyone as soon as we got back at the end of August when I was 16 weeks. I wasn't showing yet. I did tell my direct supervisor first and then I told everyone else.

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told my boss and work people at 8 weeks. We're a small department and I was too happy not to share my good news. I don't regret it at all.

I agree with this. I really think you should tell her right after the "danger zone" has passed b/c I think she would either figure it out or it would get leaked, you know?

Re: When are you (did you) tell your employer???

I told my main boss today (9 weeks)but, i asked him not to tell my prinicpal since there are some people I would rather wait until 12 weeks to tell. I know once I tell him.. it'll be all over.

So i think about 12 weeks, right before Thanksgiving I will tell.. He may keel over though.. one girl is going out 3 days before Thanksgiving and one at Christmas. Chat Icon
