Any 15+ month olds still backwards in the car seat?

DD is, she's a little one...only 21.5 pounds still. She was kicking the mirror off the back of the seat today though Chat Icon I guess I'll look into switching it soon, but she still looks cozy and doesn't complain.

We just switched it to face forward a few days ago. He just hit the 20 lb mark. Noahs almost 16 months and 20 lbs 13 0z.

Re: Any 15+ month olds still backwards in the car seat?

Not sure if we count, but DS just got changed to forward facing in my car a few days ago. (He's 13+ months) But he's still rear facing in DH's car. He loves seeing me in the car now, but just falls asleep in the car with DH. I think the back of the seat is boring to him. Chat Icon Chat Icon And he's a tall kid. He was 32+ inches at a year, so I wondered if he was cramped. After a few days, he's fine either way.

ETA: He's 23 pounds now, not too big.

we're at 28 lbs and 32 inches and he is still backwards. Only last week did I start to realize that his legs were a little cramped and he started trying to kick off the back of the seat which rocks it. Needless to say we are finally switching this weekend.

THANK GOD!!!!!!!! I died when I heard some moms saying they typically nearly triple their birthweight by a year. He didn't even double. He's gone from Baby Brontosaurus to skinny man. But he's still a bit tall.

josh is 16+ months and is still backwards. he's only about 22 1/2-23 pounds & 31 1/2 inches and is still comfy. i think it's just harder for me to get him in but he's fine and will stay that way for at least 1 more month. better safe than sorry!

DD (15 mos) is still rear-facing. She is about 25 lbs and 31 in. She does kick the seat but I never considered that a sign she needs to turn around. She's happy that way for now, so I'll be keeping her rear-facing for a while. The weight limit on our seat (Roundabout) is 35 lbs, so we've got a ways to go.

Re: Any 15+ month olds still backwards in the car seat?

Marron was still rear-facing until 23 months. She was 25lbs at the time I switched her. I probably wouldn't even had done it then but I had to take the seat out of the car and DH asked me not to put it back that way. I will admit, it was getting tight, getting her into the seat. But she never complained.

Re: Any 15+ month olds still backwards in the car seat?

DD is 17 months, a bit more than 18lbs and about 29 inches tall and still rear-facing since she hasn't met the requirement...I'm hoping to switch her after her 18 month appt in November when I move her to the driver's side of the car to make room for the new baby.

Chat Icon I wasn't even referring to that post, that's funny. I just know our kids both still love baby food.

Re: Any 15+ month olds still backwards in the car seat?

Emma will be 18 months next week and is still rear facing.

We went out earlier and the carseat was forward facing for the first time ever (wasn't my car). She was trying to scoot out of the seat and reach for EVERYTHING. She was getting annoyed because she couldn't get anywhere, I was getting annoyed that she was getting annoyed and then she finally fell asleep! I'm not turning her seat around for a longggg time after that ordeal Chat Icon

I have heard that rear facing in the infant seat is the safest option as long as the baby still fits.

You can't use an infant seat forward facing, so rear facing is the only way in that regard.

I think DD was 2 or a little older when we switched. It's safer, no rush on our end.
