Does this sound normal for 8 weeks?

Ryan is 8 weeks (will be 2 months on the 24th).

He has kind of made his own schedule:

Out of bed 7:30ish
Nurse
Hang out till about 10am then nurse to sleep
sleeps till about 1pm (3 hours)
Nurse
Hang out till about 4 then nurse to sleep
sleeps till about 6 (2 hours)
Nurse
Hang out till bath time (between 7:30 and 8)
Nurse to sleep (falls asleep about 9)
Wakes up at 2 am to nurse
Sleeps till about 5am I'll nurse him trying to get him to go back to sleep but it's a battle. He'll usually fall back asleep somewhere between 6 and 6:30 only for about an hour.

I EBF but have been pumping so I have a bit of a supply in the freezer. I'm not returning to work either so I'm willing to use what I have in reserve.

Does this schedule seem normal? Any advice as to how to go about cutting out some of the middle of the night "up-ness"?

Sounds similar to my 9 week old...only thing is at night DD usually sleeps until at least 4:30ish for her first feeding, but the last two nights she slept all the way through until 6:30am. I pray it stays that way!!!! I have no advice though b/c I don't think we did anything differently to bring this about.

little bellies need filling up a lot. As he gets a little older he'll be able to sleep longer.

He sounds pretty normal. I would just follow his cue and eventually he'll sleep more at night. For DS, it was like a light bulb went off in his head one night (around 2 1/2 months) and he just decided to sleep!

That was pretty much my schedule at 8 months. The only reason why I remember it was I had 2 of them on the same schedule.

The only difference is that I would dream feed them at 11pm-12am so there was no 2am wake up.

Dream feed = if they are movable & will stay asleep, pick them up & nurse them, put them back down. If you're not nursing, feed them the bottle in the crib while they sleep.

Re: Does this sound normal for 8 weeks?

that's pretty much the same schedule as my son! Seems normal to me...

But i don't see us getting rid of the 2a-3am feeding anytime soon. I'm just glad that he sleeps from 9pm until 2-3am now! Chat Icon
