Those of you that have diamond studs...
What is your post? My parents me studs for my birthday but I wanted screw back. They said the jeweler said he doesn't prefer to do screwbacks because they rip up your ear.. So the post has a little snap on the end instead... I'm just so afraid to lose them!!!!!!! TIA! Dana

I have screw backs.... the post is def thicker than a reg one, but they don't bother me... I do find that throught the day the back kinda unscrews itself.. so i'm always tightening them..

screwbacks. I wouldn't want these puppies to fall out. I truly do not notice the difference between these and regular posts, other than I feel more secure.

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
Mine are not screwbacks because I have the tiniest holes in the world and I can't fit a screwback in my ear.
I know this because I've tried.
I was going to borrow my BFF's diamond studs for my 'something borrowed' for my wedding but I couldn't get them in my ears, despite wearing big, heavy chandelier earrings for weeks beforehand.

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
Regular, but my DD has screwbacks. As long as they are tight enough, regular posts should be fine.

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
I have had the same screwbacks in my ears (minus obvious cleaning) for 10 years and have never had problems with them Plus I feel MUCH safer knowing they cannot come off

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
I have 2 paris, both are screwbacks and they don't bother my ears at all. - I prefer them b/c I feel like they're more secure and I don't worry about them - If I had regular posts, I'd probably lose them in a second -

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
I have a small pair of screwbacks that I haven't work in ages. Coming from someone who has bad luck losing jewelry, hence why my "studs" are $10 fakies, but I would prefer the screwback, but I've never heard of this snap you speak of, so I couldn't compare......lemme see!!!!!
ETA The screwbacks I have are a little thicker than a regular post, and you feel the stretch a tiny bit, but your ear gets used to them in a day.

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
Screwbacks and I hardly ever take them off, except for cleaning and haven't lost one in 15 years. My mother on the other hand, lost one of her post back earrings after about six months...found it in her bed and immediately took them to have screw backs put on. They are a little thicker, but I've never had a problem.

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
I have regular posts. I tried several pairs on with screwbacks and didn't like them at all. I wear my studs everyday, never take them out, and I've never had an issue. They are pretty secure.

My posts have these. It's more like a grove in the post, so when you put the stopper (sorry if that's the wrong term for them), they kind of snap into place so the stoppers don't losen and fall out.
Not sure if I explained that properly.

Exactly. I got mine when I was 21 and I leave them in pretty much all the time save for when I clean them, which is just a few times a year. I'm sure taking them in and out everyday wouldn't be a good thing, but mine stay in. I like knowing that those suckers are staying put.
ETA: I tighten them unconciously daily. I seem to always do the "Are they there?" check and catch myself tightening, too.

OHHHHHH, yes yes, now I get it, Dana doesn't explain things very well.
I lost a louver earring, so with me anything's possible, but if it's a good snap, then I think you're OK......

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
I had the posts with the groove that catches the backing, but had my jeweler replace them with screw backs.
Generally when I wear my studs, they're in all the time. I have found that the screw backs on my left ear sometimes starts to unscrew, so I need to check that daily. I think it's because I tend to sleep with my head tilted to the left side at night.

Re: Those of you that have diamond studs...
I have had my screw back diamond studs in my ears (3 on each side) for over 10 years. I take them out once in a while to clean them but they go right back in. I have never once had a problem.
I think people (who never had them) hear something and 'perpetuate' a myth.
