HAIR in Central Park
Has anyone gone to see the free production of Hair at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park? If so, what time did you get on the line to get tickets? I know they start distributing tickets at 1pm, but I'm not sure when people begin lining up. We're also signing up for the virtual line, but they give out less tix that way.

Re: HAIR in Central Park
People generally get on line for Central Park tickets EARLY. When The Seagull was done with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline a few years ago, my parents waited on line OVERNIGHT in central park.
If you are trying to see a weekend show, some people will be on line at 7am. Others will get there around 9. For a weekday, I'd say you should get there between 9 and 10 at the latest. They also give out tickets at the Public Theatre on Lafayette. I usually get there by 9am for tickets. They did Hamlet this summer and the lines weren't crazy (as far as I know), but for a musical, I think the tickets will go quickly. You can call the theatre and see what they recommend.
Also - go to the theatre before showtime and wait on the cancellation line - these tickets are free and the theatre seats over 1,000. There are ALWAYS people who get tickets and dont show up.
I love the free theatre in Central Park - God Bless Joe Papp for starting the festival over 30 years ago. One of the best things to do in the city.
